Meyer hatchery reviews???

Excellent points, Nate. Marek's is enough to make me pause though.

@MyMilleFleur One of my original chicks was an EE. She was a large and healthy, a lovely pullet, no muff, and pea comb. In retrospect, she was very skittish. It's not fair to judge all from one individual, but I would probably not order one from them again.

I should email the person that bought her and see how she ended up.

I just picked up my 8 chicks from Meyer Hatchery today. I know its early on in the going but I'm shocked to see any negative reviews about this company. Their customer service through my entire process has been outstanding. Their retail store is bright, clean, with plenty of products to browse through and a friendly staff. I suppose I still need to let these little ones grow up and see how their health holds up but isn't that a chance you take with any livestock, poultry, pet, etc.? In regards to someone talking about their flock coming down with Mareks - I'm sorry to hear that. Although, like any other virus, I assume there is multiple strains of Mareks? As a human if you get the flu vaccine it does not protect you against all strains of the flu - just the most common types.

Overall, my experience thus far with Meyer Hatchery has been positive. I will update if something changes!
I also had a very positive experience with Meyer. We ordered our first chick last April and they were all healthy and have grown into beautiful productive birds. We are getting our second batch at the beginning of March. We chose Meyer for their proximity, variety and reputation. We drive to pick ours up, as we live about an hour away.

I am getting some chicks from Meyers in a few weeks. Have any of you gotten Easter Eggers from them in past years? How did you like them? What was their size and egg coloring like?
We got one EE chick and are very please with her. She feathered out and grew the fastest and was the first to lay at 21 weeks. I haven't weighed any of our girls, but she is a good size, bigger than our Golden Buff (sex-link). Hard to compare her to our heritage breeds as they have all different body types (Dorking, Orpington and Marans). And I love her blue-green eggs, closer to mint or sage but with a blue tint that is sometimes more prominent and sometimes less. She and two of her sister went through a soft molt at about 9 months, she was the first to recover and start laying again. I am so glad to have her eggs.

Clara, our clean faced hawk-like EE at 18 weeks

At 1 week. She was your typical little chipmunk EE chick, dark brown and white stripes down her back.

Her eggs are top left and bottom right, see the color difference? The pink is from our Buff Orp the dark two are from our Black Copper Marans and the small white was our Slver Grey Dorking's first egg. Love Dorkings!

She is gorgeous. I did not order any of the EE from Meyer's. I did order 3 Araucana/Ameraucanas pullets from Mcmurray. They lay huge beautiful blue eggs. After seeing your girl I will think about it. I think that my son has mentioned getting an EE hen.

Our order last spring was from Meyer. 36 straight run 6 breeds. We lost one in shipping, but they shipped one extra. Even split between males and females. All birds have thrived and the hens have matured into excellent layers. I would only look somewhere else for breeds if Meyer did not carry. See our photos.

Thatfarmerchick your variety of eggs our awesome. I have babies that we're shipped today. I am so worried about them. They were shipped awfully late today and still have to make it all the way to Florida. They called me because my buff brahmas were not ready. Very sad I don't get those, but they were great and had patience while I figured out which way to go with my order. I am satisfied with my picks. Fingers crossed. :)
