Meyer Hatchery's Meal Maker Program

I know this is a old thread but I wanted to say I think this program is very generous and WONDERFUL! I added a meal maker to my order of 7 Barred Rock females. I had some questions about the "meal maker" so I sent a email to Meyer and promptly go a reply. Just so you all know who come across this thread in the future the company had written in their email and told me : "if you have paid to vaccinate the birds in your order (which I had) then Meyer WILL vaccinate your Meal Maker FREE OF CHARGE". I thought this was WONDERFUL!! Also, if you order all females (which I had) then your "meal maker" WILL BE FEMALE. The letters on your invoice should read MMMF. F= Female. as opposed to MMMS. S= straight run.if you see on your invoice MMMS then your "Meal Maker" is not sexed or Straight Run. Also if you ordered layers, you will get a layer ect.Hope this helps someone understand. :)

have you gotten your birds yet or did you just send in the order, I'm asking because I was wondering how long it took to get there.

my hatch date and ship date is April 11th. That's a very good question! in the past I got birds from Chicago in two days. But I'm really not sure how long. it will be sent express and not priority but not sure it will make any difference. I guess that's my biggest fear. I'm praying it won't take longer than two.it has a potential for disaster I know but I'm just hoping it will be alright. if you like I can update when they arrive. I just hope it works out alright!

exactly see I'm in iowa which is a lot  closer but I'm still worried about how long it will take to get here.

you should really be ok. it will absolutely kill me if they are all D.O.A! what I keep telling myself us two things, First people from Alaska order from them and have decent results, second thing about 3 1/2 years ago I got two pellets from Chicago. Two days is what it took. They were about 6 weeks old at the time. Ohio is closer than Chicago. I really don't know how it will go. but I will let you know . I did however order a few extra "incase" but I honestly can't say yet. but you should be alright with yours!

Just an update. Still believe this is a great program even if it did not work out for me. My meal maker hen ended up being a barred rock rooster. Wasn't worth the feed. I probably could have purchased several grocery store chicken and donated them to the needy for what I paid in feed to to raise my meal maker to a butchering weight.

My New Hampshire rooster ended up being a Hen, but one of my Rhode Island red hens ended up being a rooster so I got a red rooster in the end anyway. And although Meyer told me the fact that they've given me a meal maker rooster instead of him was just too bad for me, they did refund me some money for the other sexing mistakes that were made for my order above 10%. So I did come out OK in the end.

I will be getting chicks from Meyers hatch date April 25th, and I also requested the MMM, which should be a female since I ordered all layers. I am excited to see what I end up getting, I thought it was a pretty neat thing for them to do, I will be interested to see who all orders MMM's this year and what breeds they end up being, so keep up with the updates! :)

I drove the 3.5 hours today to pick up my girls from Meyer. It was my first time at a hatchery. Let's just say I left with more chicks than I ordered. Just got the girls home and in the brooder.

Ooh, I was thinking of driving there to pick up later this year, it could be dangerous, though, I'd probably have to build a second coop. :).
So you have a good impression after visiting the place?
