we are going to order some chickens in the spring so far we are getting salmon favorleles white crested balck polishes and golden laces wyandotes and was wondering what would be a good time to get them because we live in mn and i want to show these

I have not shown, so cannot be specific about it.............but I would contact the powers that be for the shows you are thinking about entering and ask what the youngest age for pullet/cockerels would be (6 months I *think* - but I could easily be wrong)


I also would recommend looking for a breeder who breeds to the APA standard for show stock - not a hatchery.

I agreed with Horsefeatherz. If you want to show them, don't get hatchery stock. I can't say that there are no hatcheries with good quality birds, but I do know that the most popular ones that sell a high volume do not have show quality birds. You could possibly win at a county fair, but not at an APA sanctioned show.
