MGG's Hatching Thread!

Yes I'm reading it but I can't do it without putting my other checks and risks so I'm here watching my chick cry and dying

If you have an NR360 the risk is very low to quickly remove the egg to work on it. NR360s return to humidity very quickly and you can always warm a little bit of water and put a few drop in the reservoir if it doesn't return to normal as quickly as you would like. (warm not hot water, you don't want to increase the temps).

There's no bubbles coming out of the egg anymore but the baby's still trying to poke through it's

It's coming out of the side and not near where the sack air sac is come trying to come out what do I do should I just leave it alone should I turn it

I'm having a hard time picturing what's happening, I'm sorry. It's midnight here so I'm sure my sleepy brain isn't helping. If you no longer see bubbles and it seems ok then maybe it's ok to leave it alone without assisting. That's very unusual to see bubbles though. I've heard of this happening but I've never seen it myself that I can recall. When you say it's trying to get out, I'm assuming it's starting to zip? Or? Can you take a picture through the plastic without disturbing anything?

This is what's going on can somebody just answer me I'm going to send this little video does not look right

I'm sorry, I'm trying to answer you...you only have two options here. You either wait to see what happens and allow nature to take its course one way or the other or you would be following the steps in the assisted hatch article. I don't see anything too crazing looking in the picture so it would be the bubbles that are the most disconcerting to me.

Thank you so much for everything I'm so sorry to keep you up thank you.

It's ok! Pipping in the wrong location isn't a death sentence. It just happens sometimes, most of the time they hatch without issue and occasionally they require a little assist if they get stuck while rotating while zipping. Upsidedown pips mean that the chick is malpositioned but it already got through the hardest part when malpositioned, and that's to pip. A chick that doesn't pip through the air cell is making both the internal and external pip in one go so it's not unusual for them to take longer to hatch. Your chick does not appear to be trying to zip yet, it's just a pip so I doubt that it's ready for hatch. I hope the little one pulls through for you. :fl

On a side note, I'm not necessarily suggesting this but since I'm about to go to bed I just wanted to put this out there. If you were to assist this chick you would be going in through the air cell and applying antibiotic ointment with a q-tip to the membrane to keep it from drying out. It will also make the membrane translucent so you can see whether the blood vessels have been absorbed. That's how you can see whether or not the chick is ready. You would have to be very careful in trying to help around the pip location because there are a lot of blood vessels since it's upsidedown. If the bubbles were clear fluid I think there may still be too much fluid in the egg, if they were red-ish then it's possible it was from pipping through a blood vessel to begin with.
