Michigan Chickenstock 2010 Buy/Sell/Trade June 12th

Yep, I know where Rocky's is, not too far from us. My neighbor's aunt owns it. Didn't realize you were going to the race too. Well, glad it worked out for you. See you there!

Hello all

I am posting because we need your help. We started our flock with all hens. The 2 "silkies" I bought for my kids in December yielded one rooster. We believe he is a Silky, Serama mix. 1, possibly 2 out of the 4 chicks we purchased in April are roosters. I would love if any of the bycer's coming to the chicken stock would be able to give these guys a loving home. Thanks for any consideration. We love our chickens! Unfortunately we will be trading in our country living and moving to a neighborhood in a couple of months.

Hey there! Looks like BF and I are planning on going to Chickenstock hoping to get some chicks.

We are hoping to buy 3 Silkies, at least one white one, and 3 Ameracaunas or general EE's. BF really wants one that lays green eggs.
We want chicks that are fairly young, even if they aren't day olds.

Hi,
Looking forward to June 12th!

I'd like to find some Delaware chicks to pop under a hen who's doing a hatch June 3.

I'm also interested in Java...chicks or whatever.

Will have hatching eggs for:

Bantam Lavender Ameraucana (Blehm line)

Bantam Black Breasted OEG

Cuckoo Marans

Large Fowl eggs sired by blue egged EE roo X Blue egg EE; brown egg Barnevelder;

I might have some food grade DE. It's really white and powdery. The elevator at Charlotte sells it, for.....I think $20 for a huge feed bag of it. If I can find a day without wind, I'll put some into baggies. Or if someone wants some large bags, message me, and I'll get the particulars and let you know for sure.

See you there!

Hello! This is my first post although I've been on backyard chickens quite a bit.

We're interested in buying 5 pullets. We've been doing a lot of research, planning, and preparation and we're finally ready to bring our first chickens home:). I know I'd like at least one Easter Egger but I'm pretty open to other types. I'm looking for hens that are cold tolerant(although our coop is very well insulated), friendly, laid back chickens that will supply our family with eggs and serve as pets. I'm very open to suggestions and/or tips of recommended breeds and breeds to "stay away from".

Thanks

Green Earth, welcome to the Michigan thread. I'm sure that with the number of birds being brought to Chickenstock you will be able to find some nice birds. Maybe you'll be the lucky person that wins the beautiful trio of Buff Orpingtons that Hillbilly Rooster has donated to our drawing.

Update of what I am bringing.

Delaware - various ages from 1-6 weeks. Many to choose From. Eggs Available
BLRW - only a few left from 1-3 weeks
Black Java - may have some day olds available by chickenstock. Eggs Available
Barred Plymouth Rocks - 3 months old.
Easter Eggers from 1-4 weeks old. These are out of our Blehm line Wheaten roo x EE hens. Many of the chickens are even Wheaten. Many to choose from.

Japanese Bantams - 3 available
Black Austrolorps - 5-6 available

We may have a few other breeds available as there are quite a few egg swap eggs in the bator (including some sizzles.

If you have contacted me about reserving a specific breed please send me another PM to confirm what you would like and how many so that I can write it down before chickenstock.

Thanks!

Wanted: I may be looking for another Muscovy Drake. Must be at least a year old. My boy got hurt and I am concerned about his fertility for our 2nd hatch this year.

bethanyrae i might be interested in the oeg... also any d' uccle's or other oeg's still trying to get that exact breed i am looking for to start with i am lookin for good color, and good attitude ... i want only bantam's any suggestions all input appreciated

Hi,
I really like my OEG Bantams. They're the Black Breasted.
The rooster is really bright, in terms of keeping an eye on everyone, detecting cats in the tall grass, etc.

They say OEG's can be aggressive, but ours is good. He fusses when we grab a hen but has never gone after us. I shooed him from chicks when he pecked one upon encountering it for the first time, and now he's fine around the babies. He chased the younger large fowl roosters around until they got mature, but we've never had any fights. Now he runs. Oh yeah... our Alpha large fowl hen shuns his advances, so he started grabbing a feather once in while when he could. That's about as bad as it got. ha.

I feel like the hens lay eggs that are rather large considering the size of the hens. I don't use them in recipes, but for eating. They're larger than the Ameraucana bantam eggs we have.

You can see their pics on my BYC page.
