Mine appears to be broken, but man she's the meanest to her own 10wk chicks and the 3wk chicks.

Room? where? LOL Never enough room, always too many birds... what can I say

I have another Wyandotte going broody. Gonna collect eggs and select out the best half dozen (hopefully a couple of pure EE's). Here we go again..LOL!

I can't stand the crowding, luckily I have the willpower not to hatch too too many. I have pretty limited space and it's already pretty damn crowded out there, chaotic when it's raining all day like today.

Well, as 'pure' as an EE can be, because they're crosses to begin with Have fun, Best of cLuck!!

My broody broke yesterday and laid today Yayyyy!!

Well I set the eggs last night! 2 EExEE, 2 Ameraucana's (from my friend and neighbor), 2 other brown layers of unknown species, and 2 (at least, maybe more) GLWxEE! The DW is kinda mad, but chicken math has taken a firm grip!

I took out all the eggs I could feel and marked them. I think I missed one as I pulled out 7......

We have about 27 Iowa's developing and I believe Brett said 12 of our Isbar eggs are hanging in there. I think we started with 60 Iowa eggs and only one Isbar egg was a dud, so the Isbar's are doing pretty good .

I hope Brett can figure out which hens are not the favorites of the roosters in the Iowa coops!

Hatching due June 2-3.

Whelp, It is 12 days in, and I have 7 out of 7 viable eggs so far...moved the broody this late afternoon into my brooder setup. Large dog crate with a shallow-ish Rubbermaid container. I scooped out the eggs first and put them in the brooder and then gently picked her up and set her in the crate where she immediately settled down on the eggs. Success!

well..we managed to get 12 Iowas and 7 Silveruuds Isbars out of the hatch... not great. Prob due to saving the eggs over a 3week period... but filled our orders and all out of chicks...now we have about 8 broody hens!!!
