Congrats Bob ! Brett loaded up our broodies a couple of days ago...... I didn't ask how many he set ....

all chicks hatched to date have found homes

Let's see, this is a hatching story.
Today I sold all 3 cockerels from my broody hatch back in march.
Crated them last night just to give the younger set a break from their rambunctious pursuit, took pics and posted on FB(with little hope), an hour later they were all gone!!
WooHOO!!

I'm cookin'.....I can't stand this heat and humidity,
no AC here as am whining and spending most my time under a ceiling fan.

But that damn broody is at it again...3rd or 4th time since she hatched in March!!
She's in a crate under a tree inside yard fence, hope she's safe.

...and I have the bator going, didn't think about having a 'heater' in the coolest place in the house(lower level) when I agreed to hatch for a buddy beset with predator issues.

we are right there with you Aart...no AC working right now . Brett said only 2 Isbars are developing out of 10 eggs he put under the broody hens. thats less than 2 eggs per hen. not enough . not sure what he was planning there!!!

Just did 14 day candle and pulled 3 out of 23, clear or blood rings.

Broody finally broke, took like 5 days, hopefully for good this time.

we have a couple of what we call serial broodies. One is pretty thin but wont quit. Brett fired up our small incubator this time to hopefully break them of the broody cycle and we need some chicks. ( doesnt everybody?) Seems like the older my hens get the more broody they become.

I'm in the subtraction phase....can't wait until these 12wo cockerels are in the freezer in a couple-few weeks.
