Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Another question - do you have the eggs on their sides or big ends up for lockdown if they are in an egg carton? :)
If you lay them on their sides in the carton, do you cut the carton up? Just trying to get the best for the chicks if they break out around the air cell - do they need to roll around? I saw someone say the put the cardboard carton in the incubator for humidity - was that the top or am I totally missing what was said? Thanks!

jackie and chicks if you used a egg turner, i would put them big end up in egg cartons.. if you self turned then lay the eggs down.. less positioning your chick has to do in the egg..

aart - congrats on the pip.. give it time to zip.. may take a few hrs. good luck.

Got a pip! It's below the air cell line tho, so hope it makes it.

Thanks- I did self-turning so will put them on their sides on Tuesday.

jackie and chicks sounds like a good plan,

Just set 24 eggs.. this hatch i am not adding any water at all till lockdown. i usually just at a few tbsp.. during 1st 18 day, this time none. will see if there is any difference.

Are you going to measure the humidity levels?
