i think he likes them more than he admits. He knows how much *i* like them and at the very least tolerates my obsession. He *did* stop and pick up chicks for me yesterday. ;) After a hawk (we are 90% sure) took our while silkie last year he was on a mission to get more silkies and basically told me that when I found some to get them. AND, when our dog got into the chickens, the first question he asked (after 'did he get them ALL' was 'did he get Pickles?' which was his favorite BR and basically a lap chicken.)

aww... :) Chickens have a way of getting to people's hearts no matter how they may think they don't like them :)....

I just discovered something that may get me into trouble. My "broken" incubator seems to be holding temperature. And by "broken" i mean it quit holding temp when I had 22 BCM eggs in lockdown...on day 20. I cried. All DIS.

My issue with *this* particular incubator was getting the humidity to stay up during lockdown, which would be a completely moot point if I simply used my genesis as a hatcher. Ooooooooh dear.

Last night I came home to find one of my Narr turkeys has started to lay!!! OH SWEET HAPPY DANCE! I put her egg in the bator last night with the others I set on Tuesday. This egg will be a little behind but I had to! I just couldn't NOT do it

Now I'm wondering, if she continues to lay... at what point do I draw the line and NOT put them in the bator???? I get a little carried away sometimes so I'll have to figure out how to control myself

Maybe one of my hens will mysteriously go broody?!?!?!?!

Oh no. One of the eggs is breaking oddly. I'm not sure if I should steam up the bathroom and help it. I'll have to move the first baby out, he is pecking at the other one in the egg.
Others are pipping.

I tried looking for info on the forum but it didnt come up with anything.

I could not tell what that was sticking out in your photo, but the one thing you could make sure they can breathe? I am thinking if the head is out in the air I would leave it, but that other one could be hurting or helping, you never know!
