I agree with glad put a blanket or heavy towel over the bator if you think the temp is to low.its, keep it warm, the chicks inside the eggs are generating alot of heat right now.. if its chilly in your house, move the bator covered to a warmer spot in your house.
peepchicken - did you put your cracked egg back into the bator, i dont this the membrane was damages.it would of been bleeding. did you try candle it and see if chick is still moving. Good luck with that eggs, hopeing for the best for you..
my broody hatched her 3 eggs, looks like isa, rir, leghorn over ee roo.. only the rir normally has alot of brown in it and looks like a chipmunk, well this little one is a white chipmunk.. the ee roo is all white, kinda cool looking.
lisa thats a good sign that she is broody, my broodies are blk australorps. i moved my second broody yesturday, she was setting in the nestbox that all of them like to use.. so i cleaned out the box next to it, put alot of fresh straw, moves a couple of golfballs she was sitting on to that nest and move her on them, plus added the couple of fake eggs i had under the first broody that were still warm under her.. she was still in that nest today. i am getting 14 pekin duck eggs to put under her, i will do that either later today or tomorrow.
lisa if you have some fake colored plastic easter eggs your broody will sit on those, i have one green one under my broody right now. i tape the it closed so it doesnt come apart..
my hens are isa, rir, blk australorp, leghorn and ee roo ..
