Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Up to 8 chicks now and 2 more pips. Hatching could go until Sunday because I was naughty and kept shoving eggs into the incubator.

Here are 3 chicks I hatched out in May. The first 2 are half sizzle, half cream-legbars. The last one is half sizzle, half Black copper marans.

I'm very happy that 2 of them have frizzled feathers

Last batch to hatch, set in our foam incubator last Saturday evening. Weekend of Sept 20th hope to hear some peeping going on.

9 Iowa blue eggs from an Iowa line of birds to add new blood next year and 8 Black or Blue Marans eggs from Wynette :) We now have a dual Dickey Cabinet incubator and hatcher combo to start some serious hatching next spring after we get it all sparkling like new! So this is our last for 2015.

Anyone else firing up the incubators out there? I am missing seeing those cute little fluffs :)

I was done hatching for the year... but got some eggs for free from a super nice breeder from down south. Hatched them out weeks ago...
Then had a bad case of predators wipe out about 30 of my best breeders and future breeding stock. Then due to the stress from predators (mink/coons) cocci set in and lost 4 more.
It's been devistating... :(

Last night it dawned on me that for some weird reason, ive been just tossing all my eggs (almost 2 weeks worth) on my hay in the barn. Normally i give them away to folks at work. And i realized that these eggs are from all my beloved lost hens and roosters and i just maybe be able to recoup on some of my losses.
So last night i fired up the bator and 108 eggs are now starting their process to hopefully replace a few of who i lost.

So i will be hopefully having my last hatch for the year and have my fingers for a successful hatch from these eggs that was just sitting around.

Wish me luck everyone!!!

Sorry for your loss but I definitely wish you good luck for sure! Lucky they were still laying around. I hope you get a good hatch rate on those eggs. Be sure to keep us updated!

So sad, but glad you did save some of the eggs! Wishing you much luck of course !

Candled incubator eggs. We have eight out of nine Iowa eggs forming :) The maran's were not as good. Only two questionable and one that looked good out of eight. :(

Our broody is sitting on 3 good ones (all Iowa) out of 7 eggs to start with.

Day 11-12 for the hatch :)
