Michigan Right to Farm Law, what does it mean?

Lol. Dont think those things didn't cross my mind. Thats the Irish side of the family. But yes the french side if my father rather believes in karma. But dont count me out of the race to run my beautiful 1949 old john right up......well u know lol. And i prefer my crossbow to my guns. Much quieter and the coyotes are hungry this time of year ;)

Ehhggtttt! I, as a distant individual not in any way involved am allowed to poke a little fun. You, on the other hand, and in this world of today, are not -- they'll likely send the S.W.A.T. teams of multiple cities/townships, and a whole busload of F.B.I. Agents, and one or two Homeland Security folks to oversee the entire operation, and ... next thing ya know? They'd have you all over the news, as a hostage/crisis situation, in that they'd claim temporary control/custody of the chickens you'd refuse to allow 'em to take ... what a mess ~'-)

I have to agree with cowcreekgeek. I gave my word to show my good faith to the township and to my neighbors. The deed is done. Einstein is no more. Very sorrowful is the night tonight.

Strutting his stuff!

My oldest daughter with Einstein

Now i am sorrowful, i wish i could have had him. :( I have too many roos, but he looked a lot like my boy did

I wish you could have taken him too. ....I don't think I'll ever understand how the crow of a roo is worse than a barking dog.

your boy is beautiful so much like Einstein. it's so weird not hearing his crow or his banter as I feed the flock. it seems so eerily quiet now.

It is a hard thing losing your roo. I hope that it gets easier for you, and that the girls adjust good. I hope that someday we can fight for the boys too, once our foothold is a little stronger. I have always had a special spot in my heart for the roos. I agree about dog's barks being worse.

If the sounds of the trains in the distance were to stop, I'd miss listening to them as I do every once in a while. But, I don't imagine I'd easily adjust to livin' anywhere close to the tracks ... the absence of your rooster's sounds will constantly remind you that they're no longer around. You are both fine examples of those residents of Michigan that should seek to find larger tracts of land, and at a minimum of five aerial miles beyond the reaches of any municipality, so as to be free of the restrictions so many prefer to live within -- not because you should have to, so as to appease them, but for your own enjoyment; so that you may find the greater pleasures that livin' this way provides.

And, as to the dogs? Barking w/o provocation is among the most obnoxious behaviors that any canine can exhibit, from my own perspective. But, there's a few neighbors that'd claim my yellin' at their dogs once in a while is far more irritating than what they choose to completely ignore ~'-)

Merry Christmas

Some very old history on RTF in Michigan is here: http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/BF02217152

It isn't pretty.

It rarely is ...

"But, if [the permit-to-farm plan] itself foundered, it nevertheless equipped industry leaders with the ideological tools to assert and conceal their control over state agricultural policy."

An excellent study in history, so as to predict how this may ultimately play out? Look into what was done for Tyson in Arkansas, back before we knew who the Clinton's were, and to the many much smaller operations along the way.
