Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Raz- could you put a link to the donation site at the botom of your posts? I went to it, saw they didn't accept paypal and thought I would get it late & now can't find it.

Tap, Silly, Opa, RaZ, Chickflick, Kimmie.....to everyone my best wishes and prayerful thoughts go out to all of you. Each one is facing a different trial, but every trial is just as hard as the next.
My guess is there are many more out there who haven't shared their own woes....to all of you this is a great group to vent to (sorry about the hanging participle...spelling ain't so great either); everyone is very supportive. I've never encountered a greater group of kind people!

I can't speak for the others mentioned, I can't speak for the silent people either. In my life, I was taught that our woes were our own and that we shouldn't burden people with our problems.

I'll provide the link. I'm rather embarrassed to do so. It goes against the way I was raised, but I'm in a serious bind.
I am so deeply appreciative of the folk who have taken in my hens and those who have contributed to my case. I have no words to express my gratitude.

The defiant aspect of my nature tells me that I am doing the right thing. I'm not just fighting for me. I'm fighting for the next person who may face a similar circumstance.

Thank you all for your support.

Amen, RaZ, however, voiced or not, your woes are not my burden to carry, they still belong to you; Yet, by my listening to your troubles, your burden may lighten. It is a kindness we can do for others that requires no more than the "art of listening."
In 1947 this saying appears in a Charleston, South Carolina newspaper [SCM]:

Not until trouble and heartache and sorrow came into my own life could I fully comprehend the words of Ian McLaren: “Let us be kind, one to another, for most of us are fighting a hard battle.”

Beautiful words.

RaZ, where are you at with your remaining chickens? I know of 2 RL people who are experienced chicken keepers, who might be willing to help you, and I can ask them for you if you'd like me to. If I could, I would go right now and pay the fine in full. Because I don't agree with it either. And while I can understand your reservations, I think you should not feel embarrassed.

...Lastly, I apologize if anything I've posted has been insensitive or ill-timed. I won't apologize for typos or poor grammar, however ;) Everyone here on this thread has been nothing but positive, constructive and kind, and I would only want good things, happiness and peace for all of you and your flocks. Thank you all for good advice you've given me.

Excellent quote(s).
My woes are of no real concern to any other. I'll carry this burden on my own shoulders.
I will offer to carry the burden for those who need any support that I can offer. A shared burden is a lighter burden.

I have 8 twelve week old chicks. The little roo is just starting to crow. As small as they are, I tempted to make them house chickens.
I am such a defiant outlaw.

Woke this morning a 0330, battling a stomach virus that has been going around, and since I wasn't able to go back to sleep I decided to go to Meier's to take advantage of a two day sale on Folgers coffee. The usual price is $9.39 and it's on sale for $5.99 with a limit of 2. While the ad limits the number per purchase, it doesn't limit the number of trips to the store. So later this morning I need to go to Tractor Supply so I will once again stop at Meier's and pick up two more cans. Since the store is just over two miles away I may make several trips.

I candle the 41 eggs in the incubator and only 2 ameraucana x welsummer and 23 welsummer eggs were fertile. I took them out of the turner and placed them back in the incubator sitting in cardboard egg cartons. Hopefully on Sunday they will all hatch. I need to think about replacing my existing flock of Welsummers. They are laying well and some days I get an egg from each bird, but they are all 3 years old so it's time to think about replacement.

One word of caution about the cheat method of cervical dislocation. Too much pull can result in decapitation. However, if that does happen it does eliminate any possibility that you only performed a chiropractic adjustment.

Good deal on the coffee. I try to shop the sales and at my VFW meeting I heard Plumb's was having it's one-day sale on t-bones for 2.99/lb. It's Mexican beef usually but grills just like the local stuff

Being a traditional bowhunter for some 40 years now I try to shoot alot to keep the twitching muscles aligned, anyway, my lane is next t the goats and while I winging wood a herd of deer decided to come up and mingle with my goats. Dummies did not care that I was about 20 feet away making all kinds of movements. They just decided if the goats were ok with it they were too.
