Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Starting to side the garage and the starter strip is giving me fits. Over a 24 length, the original cedar siding is more than 1 1/2 inches out of level.
It's going to make getting started kind of a PITA. Good thing I know how to cheat.

Anyone ever make a checkerboard cake? I had a great time making one last Friday and surprising everyone when I cut into it. Sorry the pictures aren't Pinterest-worthy but this is what's left of it after it was mauled during the party this weekend. My youngest turned 10 and asked for a vanilla and chocolate layered cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting. Well... it's *was* layered and he was not disappointed. Fun stuff.

Be careful with using the law and/or a sensible argument when dealing with the ordinance nazis. Even if you are correct and within your legal rights, they will find someway to cover their embarrassment. That usually means stepped up harassment and spurious charges.
This is exactly right. Even though the State says you can build ag the Twp. can, and does, superceed the State. Happens all the time. All of my contractor friends will not build without a permit just to keep the local puppets from fining them. Once that happens you darn well better have deep pockets. From a safety standpoint, and if you have a good building inspector, you will ensure the foundation is sound, snow load is met, and wind bracing is adequate. Too many bad builds result in collapse which injures and/or kills stock as well as people.

Taking a break from the heat and humidity. Pulling stumps in mucky muck is no fun. We've been getting just enough dry weather to start work and then it pours again making soup out of my excavation site. Time to pull out the kayaks and drift away....

Ok. Chickens really are a riot. Just pulled up from work & I swear, they act just like the dog & cats & meet me at their pen door like they have missed me all day :)

Ok. Maybe it's just because they want out for a few hours and /or a treat, BUT the dog is only excited cuz he wants dinner!

Guess I should go out to the garden & pull weeds now......but getting on lawn tractor sounds like way less work....

It IS beautiful & WAY Pinterest worthy. I am really into baking artistic stuff (should see my egg painted sugar cookies @ XMAS....My other half says "OCD"' I say "artistic").

This whole forum thing is addictive. No one warned me about that.

After lurking here for 4 months I knew the chicken thing was addictive. Guess I owe the honey a lot of apologies cuz I couldn't figure out WHY he spent so much time in his "forums"......oy:rolleyes:
