Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

TAPROCK - my kids thought that Von was a really neat kid.  They were happy to have gotten to hang with him on Saturday.  I really enjoyed talking with him as well (he was so concerned that you had not gotten your name in the raffle...he is a sweety!!)

He was worried he wouldn't have anyone to hang out with and was happy there were some "nice people" there. He is definitely not shy when it comes to meeting new people.

I have 11 broody hens! I was considering locking them all in the yard tomorrow and letting everyone else out free range and in the coops. I just don't have enough space to separate them all.

Also do I need to spray sunscreen on a mostly baldrooster? He's getting really red looking.

Chickenstock was great! My girlfriend and I had fun! It was her first time and my 3rd. It was nice to meet old friends in person as well seeing new ones.

So sorry ChickwannaB.

Daron, Grace is a lovely young lady.

farmerboy, Grace is a real sweet heart!!
glad we got to talk if only for a few min.

Thanks, she is! I am already thinking about getting a ring. :D But, have to find a place to live before proposing her, if she says yes(which I hope so), then marry, then live together until we die of very old age of 100 or so! :D
Wish money was no object, then I can buy my own farm right away. *sigh* Life is sure is tough! My poor old red van is finally going to take a permanent rest. All the brakes are worn out, and the steering parts have gone bad too. It will cost more than its worth to get it fixed. All I did was to take it to the shop on Thursday to get the muffler fixed, and have the brakes checked as I was getting ready for the trip to Chickenstock. In a way, I am glad that I had took it in to get it checked over, otherwise if the brakes or the steering had given out on me when I need it most while I am going 70 mph on the freeway. Grace and I might have gotten hurt bad or worst! Thank God! But I will not miss the 10 mpg and the noisiness! I forget the mileage of the van, will check it tomorrow, but it has seen a lot of miles! So, my parents told me that the best thing for me to do is to buy the purple pickup truck from them. It have a cap that I need to keep things dry when I am hauling feed and other things, and it have 4 wheel drive, and better gas mileage!!!! 15 mpg! It will be my first time to actually have my own transportation. My parent have given me the van, so I have been using it. But, it drained my bank account a good bit when I brought the truck. Boo hoo!

I see trouble in the viewer box. Lol

Daron, I hear ya on the van. Might be you can drive it to the parts yard and get a bit more than scrap price on it, 300-500 some places. Grace is a doll. The two of you are a nice looking couple, I wish you the best and I hope she says yes.

The coffee just finished brewing so grab yourself a cup and let's get this day started. I've got to go out on a bid for a job this morning and then back to working on the boat. Hopefully I can get it going soon. The summer will be over before I know it if I not careful.

Lunch with my old farmer friend was really nice and it was almost impossible to get away from him. He was really glad to see me. Living alone makes him thrilled to have company just to break the silence.

Good morning,

So it's official... both our rouen ducks are drakes! Boo. The one duck we knew was male for the longest time now, it had all the signs of being a boy (larger, "green'ish" bill, raspy quack, start of curled tail feathers) the other was showing all the signs of being female though. Well, 11 weeks and "she" started molting into her adult feathers. Even the new feathers started coming in rather brown instead of grey so we were hopeful.... but nope, one day like a switch the cheeks started turning green, & the underbelly is showing a bit of grey! Ugh. "She's" an underachiever. LOL. So now I'm on the hunt for a rouen lady duck. I think I found a 1 year old hen in the next town over. She's a rouen mix, but looks like a rouen only a bit darker. They want $8. I don't think that's too bad. All we wanted was the eggs. DH & I are going to go look at her tonight. They have LOTS of baby ducklings right now though so hopefully I'll be able to keep from coming home with more bills in the crate than I do in the purse.

Any W.MI BYC'ers have any POL rouen ducks for sale? I'm on the lookout & would rather not go through all the raising of ducklings again.

Good morning everyone!
Sam,I will take you up on that cup of coffee- just finished off mine.
Im about to head out to work, just wanted to check on everyone. The storm last night here was a disappointment, all the sky did was pee on us. Now its so humid inside my house, it feels better outside but the mosquitos have been so bad in my yard, I have to be fully armed to go out there.

Taprock, your son is so sweet- Ive decided that I will trade you my son for yours. Perhaps you can train mine to act like yours. He's twenty, so it will be a bit more of a challenge than starting young, but I think you could do it.

I have to go pull weeds at my moms house after work. Too hot to do it. However, she cant walk- and can only sit and stare out the window at what used to be her passion- and the weeds are tormenting her. Ive put her off all week. Today, Ill suffer through it and make her view more enjoyable.

Everyone have a great day!

Good morning!
Yep, coffee very good this morning (though, I had my first cup at 0200; on my 4th here at work).

Squiters....OMG! I was bit at least 100x last night just giving the birds fresh water. I, too, have MAJOR weeding to do...I may have to break down and use repellant in order to go into the garden. I can't stand that stuff, but I already have so many bites I am itching like mad this morning!

Have a great day all :)

I would get electric fencing, bears are BIG adn hungry, and I would think they would break down a run and eat your chickens if they could, don't have any hear so can't speak with expieriance , Glad it isn't in my yard
