If intervention is necessary as a last resort
I left one for overnight and when he didn't make any further i helped, but it has to be done carefully or they bleed to death, and that was the only hatching egg from under my broody; an incubator could drop humidity and shrink wrap the others; but that being said if they don't get out in time they DO suffocate despite what i had read
I had one who did not make his zip because he was too big and was the first peeper, so he didn't pip and died in his shell. I heard him get quieter and what i read said to leave alone so i did. But it would have risked the others to open, so always a catch and a hard decision.
