Ugh , I just back from the ER. I dislocated my knee cap, talk about painful. My knee was locked in the bent position and luckily my neighbor was home to carry me down the stairs to our truck. Now I can't even carry water out to my coops. Its a good thing I had cleaned the coop this morning. Now I just have to hope there isnt any problems that they couldn't see on the x-rays.

Ouch. Get well soon! That must be painful.

I got my "been on BYC for 4 yrs" badge...

Ooooo bummer...I've got bad bum knees, it stinks not to be able to walk well without pain. Hope you feel better real soon!
How did you do that?

Thanks to my buddy Keith the Shed Roof Temp Fix is done! He had some joist jacks and I had the lumber, tarp and clamps ...with our combined brains and his brawn, I think it'll hold up till winter is really over.

Luckily I had a brand new tarp stashed that was just the right size...some furring strip and lots of clamps.

Peak restored to near normal.

Keith came up with the pseudo truss idea.....pic stitched from 3 shots looks a little funky.
We had to bolster it to the floor in the middle.

My other small metal shed looked OK but the roof sheathing and rafters were a bit swayed down so I got most the snow off that one too. I am exhausted and very sore in the knees and shoulders, glad it's taken care of.

I was in er yesterday. My hubby is a wrecker driver and a drunk driver hit his wrecker head on doing 70mph. My hubby was standin beside his truck and when the druck hit his, wrecker hit my hubby throwing him 10ft. He has a concussion and broke elbow and lots of bruise s. But thankfully he is alive. The druck lived but had to be cut out of his truck with jaws of life. He had no license or insurance and was his 2nd offence. He just left bar a mile away. My hubbys wrecker has 70 strobe lights and can be seen from space.
Get this... state cop told my hubby dont be surprised if looser drunk sues wrecker insurance. .. what the h***! Thats just not right what ourcountry give rights too.

OOOWWW! I hate pain. Hope it heal up quickly and doesn't happen again. Something that painful should be really hard to do.
Congratulations Silly.
Especially when we get a little warm up the predators are going to be out looking for something to eat. If your coop and run are predator proof this isn't too big a problem. If your run isn't predator proof, then locking the chickens in at night is necessary. With a little "arrangement" you can free range during the day with pretty good success. My point is that you can't kill all the predators and trying is a losing battle that will cost you chicken lives, its much easier to predator proof their lodgings and sit back & enjoy the wildlife in your area. I have found, especially with coons, that once they determine they really can't access my run or coop they give up until a new one enters the scene. The deal with coons is that if they can get their paws through the wire they will pull a chicken out in pieces, uck. That (and weasels) is why most everybody uses hardware cloth for at least the first couple of feet or so.
My "feral" cats decided this winter was just too cold and moved into the house, hopefully just for the winter, but as a result I have squirrels for the first time. I feed fermented feed and since its been so cold I have been dumping the frozen leftovers out for whoever's hungry, which is evidently birds and bunnies, lots of bunnies. The squirrels are after the scratch, it didn't take them long to figure out where I was storing it,, I'm hoping they continue to be satisfied with spillage.

Oh my gosh, he's so lucky to be mostly okay. Its rediculous what people can sue for.
