Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I haven't had time recenlty to keep up on the postings. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that there is a 1st annual Chickefest get together this weekend in Lovells. Hpefully this will be the beginning of many. Some people are coming up on Friday and camping. There is a park at Shupac lake or u have an open invatation to camp at our cabin abt a mile away. We will be having campfires, singing and guitar hopefully at night. Maybe even some card playing going on.

Some people can not be trusted when left alone...
Are you referring to me? I can't even be trusted in a crowd.

The wood stove is installed and all the chimney connections made. I think I'll test it out tonight with a Duraflame log and make sure there are no leaks or other problems.

One of my hens is beginning to moult. There are black feathers everywhere in the coop and run. I thought it was one of my older BSLs but turns out to be one of this year's chick. She is only 32 weeks old. None of the other hens show any sign of moult, not even the 1 1/2 year old girls.

Today was a wonderful day to be outside and doing productive things. But I'm done working and I think I'll treat myself to a Kaluha and goatmilk cocktail with a raw egg stirred in for that extra creamy texture.

She looks fantastic... You did a great job with her. The before pics look very bad :(. So glad she had someone willing to fix her up!

So... 2 days ago I caught my drake chasing one of the chicken hens he was raised with, he had feathers in his mouth so I knew he'd been trying to mount.... Have had to keep them separated for the last 2 days, which I hated to do cause the chickens were in a 4x8 run. It did however give the 2 original girls a chance to make friends with the new girl. Today I put up a fenced area in a corner of our fenced backyard for the ducks and moved them in. They have 2 pools, their duck house and a nice shady area. I've seen the chickens fly over to visit, but mostly stayed out of drake range. Hopefully this works out. It will be kind of nice to not have the ducks pooping all over the yard anyway... duck poop is way grosser then chicken poo!
