Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I just finished my thread on how I saved my chick after the hawk attack! If you would like to read it the link is in my siggy!

I am off to make some green tea and honey... Sounds wonderful Nova! Mmmmmmm!
This cold is kicking my rear. *grumble grumble*

At my moms, we would put pots of water on top of the wood stove to keep moisture in the house. It helped a lot! No need for a humidifier...
We, also, put a jar with old candles in it to melt and make the house smell good.

But PLEASE be really careful!!! My parents wood stove caught on fire. Thank goodness we had an extinguisher right there for just such an emergency!

OMG, you may have figured it out! I have been looking for a year now trying to figure out what she was mixed with. Are their feathers super silky soft??? My hen and both her babies are sooooo soft, even more than the other yearlings that i have. So i know that's genetics too, because they all eat the same thing. I don't suppose you mix the EE's and orloffs? Or would have orloffs for sale next year??? Not concerned with purity, i am mixing to make my own personal "breed/hybrid" of flock. Personality comes FIRST in my breeding, That adorably round shape with the funny wings come next, then color. I am breeding for lemon blue, or buff blue. Color is easier to work with down the line though, hardest thing for me has been finding the right personalities. It took me most of a year to find my lap hen! I had bought others, but other than her daughter they have fallen short of the amazing personality of her mom.

I've been watching the stove ever since I lit that fire log. I've been watching the burn and have been monitoring the temperatures of the chimney segments.

This is supposed to be a high efficiency stove and so far I agree. That 2-hour log has been burning for over 4 hours now and the house is toasty warm. Well, 65 degrees is toasty to me.

My fire extinguisher is close at hand, just in case.

Someone needs to start laying eggs...
These chickens need to start pulling their own weight!
roosters lay eggs right?

I would love to have some EE babies in the spring!
I LOVE my EEs and my NN Frizzles!

Fuzzy... you need some NN frizzles!
My roo runs to me and talks while I pet him!

Run down here and get some eggs.
I sold 2 dozen today but I still have 9 dozen ready to go.

Production seems to be slowing down, I only got 6 today.

I am actually still working on finishing the eggs you gave me... I have a doz and a few left! BF was eating eggs like crazy in the morning... guess he got sick of them.

I found this and thought it was interesting! Curing sour crop with Monistat!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/630307/sour-crop-cured-with-monistat

I have been reading about wry neck, worms, and sour crop, but I am not sure what is the issue with Nugget.
He was picked on by another roo (that has moved on) so I assumed brain injury.

Nugget keeps his neck back like a snakes that is ready to strike. His comb is pale. He is wobbly when he walks.
No other symptoms. Eats, poos, even tries to pick fights (which is a sight to see)

I am trying Poly-Vi-Sol to see if he has wry neck
I read it may be induced by stress but starts out as a vitamin deficientcy

His legs look funny in this pic but there is nothing wrong with them.
That is how he holds his head all the time.

If you have any suggestions please feel free to shout them out!
