Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I haven't seen more hawks, but I sure do see a lot more vultures hanging around. Probably gathering to migrate. Why can't the red tail migrate with them??
Beautiful day today.
I actually saw quite a few hawks today while working. One in particular was standing a few feet off the road as I went by. He was a good 1 1/2-2 ft tall and just standing there doing nothing. There was some roadkill nearby, but not next to him. When I drove back through about 10 minutes later, he was still there in the same spot doing nothing. He was quite something to see up close.

byfm- ouch! But great job on treating her. She looks so much better.

QUESTION: If I were to make a pen from cattle panels and put a nigerian dwarf goat in the pen, could that goat climb up and over the panels or are the grids of the panels too far apart for him to climb up easily?

Yeah, she looks great! Nice work!

Welcome Wild Rooster!

Raz...smile, always good to keep them wondering what you're up too!!

Got a response from my add for the sumatra and silkies... I know I'm making an assumption, but guessing by the the persons name... the boys will all end up as dinner. But.. I have to move them out. So they can do what they want with them I guess...

I'm stuck working this weekend now so I won't be able to go to up north chicken fest, I hope you guys have a great time!

Thanks Caz!

I heard drakes will kill chickens trying to mate...
Duck poo IS SO MUCH WORSE THAN CHICK POO!!!!

I've been told this too... he was doing fine with the girls her was raised with and only went after the new girl. She had some social issues and stayed mainly in the coop, our deck, or the garage if we left it open. Once he started going after one of the other chickens I knew I had to keep them separated. I have only see the Buff Orp in with him and I've not seen him chase her yet. The other girls stayed on their side of the fence.

There are a few times that I wish I weren't the centre of attention.

I am totally excited about getting this stove operational.
Doing the check out of the unit, I burned a single duralog to check for leaks or problems. The package says that the log burns for 2 hours but it has been going for 3 1/2 hours as I try to get the damper dialed in.

The temperature in the house is a decent 65 degrees, even with the windows open. A potpourri on the top makes the house smell like spiced pumpkin pie.

The stove has a blower unit that I'm trying to dial in, but it works well and is quiet. The chimney heat recovery unit comes on and off by itself but seems to work well. Between the two, the heat stays in the house and isn't lost up the chimney.

And I did this all by myself without any supervision. (Nova!)
