Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The snow is coming down quite heavy in Pontiac. I didn't even bother scraping my truck off. It's very windy too. Poor utility workers can't even get caught up out here!

Snow has been covering the ground out here north of you too. I just hope this doesn't happen again like it did two years ago and totally knock out all the blossoms on my apple trees. Have 5 trees and not one apple! Last year though the chickens enjoyed a bunch of extra ones and the home made cider vinegar fermenting. their feed. But still ran out of the cider vinegar and am having to purchase.

I'll have to fill up the holding bottle and plug the water heater back in tomorrow. Bet the chickens won't want out later on when daylight comes and they see all the snow!

I had hoped that we had seen the last of the snow but as I look out at the white that now covers everything I realize that it was foolish dreaming. I can remember turkey hunting in the snow during the last week of April one year, so I shouldn't be surprised to see this morning's mess.

Last week I lost a wheel bearing on my boat trailer while coming back from Newago, so the boat and trailer have been sitting at a repair shop in Portland while I tried to get a new axle. Yesterday morning Hope and I drove to Livonia to a trailer manufacturer and to my surprise they called me in the afternoon to come pick up the new axle. Today I hope to coordinate with the repair shop to install it early Thursday morning so that I hopefully can get in a fishing excursion on the Grand river as well.

@Maah, how is your younger bunch of chicks doing? I'm keeping a close eye on our d'uccle's comb. Fingers crossed.

They're doing good! You picked out perfect chicks. :) The little porcelain is still smaller & developing slower than the 2 mille fleur, but that's ok. How does your little porcelain's comb look? I'm not seeing much progress in combs yet, but they're only 3 weeks old. The one old english is feathering nicely. DD named her "Lady". I'm not seeing any cockerel feathers yet, so hopefully we won't have to change the name to "Odie", though the comb is not growing, it has turned to a pink stripe. We'll see. I took some pictures this morning for you. They sure are camera shy. MI, is this too many pictures? I tend to get camera happy... but I can calm it down it y'all prefer less.

Care to make any early guesses? LOL. This is our first time having d'uccle's... so I'm not familiar with them as much.

The National Weather Service just announced that this is officially the snowiest year on record. So now those of you who were hoping it to be so can quit what ever mumbo jumbo dances you were during to bring on more snow. This is enough, we don't need or want any more.

That makes the white stuff worth it I guess! I hope to never see record snowfall again! I hear the birds chirping outside. I'm sure they are saying a few choice tweets too.

Besides, it takes my mind off all the stupid crap I keep hearing in the news.

Have to agree with you on this! I pretty much quit watching the news when Jennings died which was about the same time I came back from Iraq and retired from the Armed Forces. And, the snow is kinda nice considering it's covering my ponds that were once fields, lol!
