Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well, our other BO, Nugget, appears to be in the beginning stages of broody as well. She is displaying the same behaviors Patty did at first...sitting all day but roosting at night. When she decides to overnight in the nest a few nights I'll put a few eggs under her. Hopefully I can find homes for these guys. I'll be happy to give them away we've got so many!

Not really sure how it would have been possible to have had a better day than today. My old friend, 89 years, came at noon and we sat visiting until dinner at 2pm. Then after a wonderful meal we sat waiting for everything to settle enough to make room for coffee and coconut cake.

I just started the incubator and once I'm sure the temperature has stabilized I'll start the waiting game for 22 Welsummer and 20 bantam Vorwerk eggs to turn into chicks. Since I no longer have any breeds of chicken noted for broodiness I quess it is going to be up to me and Edison to do the duty.

While a broody hen is a lot less work, having an incubator with a clear top that allows me to watch the entire hatching process sure is a wonderful experience.

Hope everyone enjoyed the lovely weather! And the Easter celebrations. I get to work on this nice day. Oh well someone has to do it.
The baby goats are just too cute!
Opa, good luck with your hatching project.

Was a wonderful day to get lots done outside.

Hope everyone had a great Easter.

Well, I set a dozen eggs under Maia at O-dark thirty this morning.
We shall see what happens in about 3 weeks :D
6 EExEE & 6 Marans x EE. Just might get some OEs.

Been busy. The new coop is almost finished. Aside from painting and adding siding, I've been working on a grow-out pen under the roosts that will feature a poop board for a roof. You can also see we've been busy clearing away the storm damage... from December.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the coop VERY nice
,
One of my dog's newest habit is to roll in chicken poop. He's had lots of baths since the weather turned warmer. Any ideas on how I can break him of this habit? Its disgusting and I'd rather not bathe him daily :(
no rolling here but he loves to eat it, does not make me happy but not eating chickens is a good thing

LOVE the goat and chick pics, but I feel like I have just been mooned

This is a bug eyed "camera in my face" stare. Still mulling his genetics. Thought a blue laced wyendotte, but he has some hair on his legs? Can't make what cross to a pea comb would do this and have feather feet in the lines???

So did the bunny see his shadow? Do we have six more weeks of spring?

I was busy outside doing chores. There was more storm damage than I first saw. Cleaned up most of it and got things organized for future repairs.
It's 8:00 and this is the first that I have come inside since about 10 this morning. It is still 67 degrees out. I need to go back out and coral the canaries. As much as I have waterproofed the fence it is still leaking. I think they have a teleporter.

One area that I sectioned is the hop garden. They are nearly 18 inches tall already. The willow cuttings are looking pretty good. No roots yet but they are leafing out so I have hope for a good transplant rate.

I hope everyone enjoyed the day.
