Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They're certainly not HIGH in that coop. Probably only around 1.5-2ft up in that coop. The coop itself is almost 3ft off the ground, but there is a ramp in and out of it. I wonder if she landed wrong trying to just JUMP out of the coop or something. She did lay an egg this morning, and gave me the stink eye when I opened the crate to retrieve said egg. *sigh* I LOVE my dottes.....they just don't love me back it seems.

My son picked out an EE pullet from the FFH bin, it's almost 10wks old and I'm thinking it looks like a roo. However, I have not heard it attempt to crow, so maybe I'm wrong and it is a hen. What age do they usually start crowing at? I will have to get an updated pic of him/her and see what you guys think.

Post a picture if you can - I wouldn't count on the crowing to tell you. Often EEer boys will get darker/redish color blocks on their shoulders, & longer tail feathers.

I just picked up two sweet silkie chicks to give to my broody hen. She already has them and they are all happy as can be - I love having a broody raise chicks - it just seems "right" :)

Just checked and the temperature is holding great. Amazing how much better wood is over Styrofoam. The blue lid is on a quart jar of water to act as a heat sink in case of power outage.

I like your incubator! Good luck!

Totally not chicken related.... I have lots of boys clothes sizes 2,3 and 4. If anyone is interested come and get them! You can buy chicks while you're here too.;)

Glad, are your roosts low? Heavy breeds need lower perches or they hurt themselves (or get bumblefoot in my case)

Chiclflick did the blind one get blue eyes???

My blind cochin bantam hen (in my avatar) has blue eyes. Soon as she hears me, she finds me. She also has the coop memorized as she can find water and food bowls. Her weight is perfect and dose pretty good for being totally blind.

I think it's time for me to add another rooster to my flock. My current roo is worn out from checking on his hens that have split into two groups, one on each side of the house. Poor guy.

Mouse picked the wrong chicken pen to walk into!

Ha! I gave my chickens a mouse once and they looked at it and then walked away. They think that's the barn cats' job apparently.

Maybe this little guy will be up to the task of second roo. The only BCM to hatch and I'm pretty sure that's a boy.
