Marijuana?

HahahahhahhahahhaahhahahahHhhHhHhHhHhHaahhHHhAAhahHHhahahahHH

I'm sorry this persists RaZ. Hope Silly is right and this does just go away. I (as a taxpayer) would be much happier if some of the $ invested in this criminal chicken keeping/peeling paint/ butterfly garden etc etc etc saga was instead invested in .... Say, roads? Schools? Public health? JMHO

And Silly, I'm sorry. :hugs

Does anyone have any goslings or heritage turkey poults (preferably a tom) for sale. I bought my son 2 bbb turkey poults for pets not knowing they didn't have a long pet life :-( so before the time comes I'd like to replace them with a pet that my son can keep more then 1 yr. He loves his turkeys but also has some interest in geese, and figured this was the best place to start the search. :)

Well i'm not scrambling to find a processor for my meat birds. The place I used last year is unavailable until basically August, and the OTHER place we took a few cockerels to I wasn't that happy with how they cleaned the cavities out (AND they cost a lot more). I hate to resort to craigslist to find someone (we have about 2 weeks before I'll start getting nervous because of their size/age) but it looks like that's what I'm going to have to do. We *could* do it ourselves, but DH doesn't really want to mess with it and frankly neither do I. Not for almost 50 birds.

If you do end up in a position where it's totally DIY, no alternative, I'd suggest you check in with these folks: lots of great info there and good advice too. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...hrough-the-emotions-please/4170#post_13684162

The thread title says it's about the emotional side, but I have read many discussions and equipment and techniques there... I really believe it's a great resource.

Yeah I've been through that thread. And we (meaning *I* and DH just kind of stood there lol) processed about 7 last summer by just skinning and gutting them so I know how to do it but I like to have the skin on for a few preparations we do, and I don't really want to have to spend an entire day up to my elbows in chicken guts.

Ya, I can relate to that!!

My processor skins my ducks, and honestly... I think sometimes I'd rather have the skin on myself.

Could you maybe hire a handful of workers for the day, let them be up their elbows so you don't have to?

Egg production has been off for a few days now. Only getting green eggs from the EE's.
One Marans is sitting on eggs from PK. The other went missing on Monday. Now I find that she has been stealing brown eggs from the BOs and is sitting on 13 eggs.

Stupid broody birds.

ETA
The rotten BO has killed off an egg just before hatch. The broody has been curtained off but the BO still managed to get in and get the egg. There are 4 or 5 left that I hope hatch.

the processor we usually use had ducks when we dropped them off last year and i was asking about them and they said that once the ducks get much past a certain age they are almost impossible to pluck and their policy is to just skin them and save the hassle.
