Opa, so sorry to hear that elbow is still a problem! Ugh.
It makes me sad to hear the low opinion doctors are held in. Maybe I am just lucky, but my doctor is great, very thoughtful and caring. Most doctors put in years of study before they even start their careers and start paying back their school debt (imagine graduating with upwards of $100,000 in loans). And then have to work on people, each one different in their responses to treatments and medications, in addition to dealing with the insurance companies that constantly try to pinch pennies. Many good doctors are leaving medicine due to outrageous liability insurance costs. Medicine is an art, not like car maintenance. Every patient is an individual. If it could be done by the book we would not need doctors at all, just service manuals.
