Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well my 2nd hatch is done.
35 eggs, 34 was fertilized
18 hatched
The rest quite right before hatching

And again no silkies.
For some reason I cant get the silkie eggs to hatch.

Im still new to a bator and suck at using it. I prefer my broodies just not this time of the year. Sold most of the 1st batch and this batch I hatched for myself. Soon as hens start laying again, ill collect for the bator again for another round to sell.

This spring I have silkie eggs im buying from a lady in south Mich. Will be getting lavender, splash/paint, and porcelain. And I also have 40 pre paid calico/millie cochin eggs in MD that will be sshipped in soon as it gets warmer.
I'll use my broodies for these eggs to make sure for a good hatch. No bator mishaps for bought eggs! No way.

Hey whats the name of the lady in south Michigan

All my silkies look pretty bad right now. They have dipped their crest in the water and the feathers froze

. They're not frozen now but they still look ugly. Can't wait till spring (or when ever it finally gets warm) so I can give the ladies a bath.

Well what do you know? GR is now chicken-friendly. That is some good news.

But if you read the comments after then article, there are quite a few negative comments including some by people worried about feral chickens taking over the city. It amazes me that people can be so willfully ignorant.

great so now I don't have to take all my eggs up north to the relatives, they can have their own!!!
