Quite the distance for you but the Amish run a feed mill that is quite nice, over there in Mio.
Family Farm carries organicNew to Michigan. Feed only organic feed to my girls, but am losing my feed supply. Anyone in the Kalamazoo/Three Rivers area that knows where I can get good organic/non-GMO feed? Preferably not a crumble that can't be fermented! Thank you!

Sorry you had to put one down. I have one that is 4 days old that has a bulging eye...I think it got pecked hatching...that is doing better and better each day, so if it continues to improve each day, it will get to stay another day. But I am all set to take care of it if I have to.It always stinks to have to cull a chick, even when it's the best solution in the long run.
Just had to write that down somewhere where folks understand that sometimes livestock also means deadstock and that putting a deformed life out of it's misery is the responsible thing to do.
TIA for your silent blessings of empathy.
Off to take care of and try to enjoy the ones that are still alive and healthily growing great guns.
Today is the day that could determine if we can get our chickens at our home!!!! (Waiting on land charts and a letter from Lansing, getting my chicks in a row, my city manager is set in his ways, even though he openly told me he buys fresh eggs from another citizen... Grrrr) fingers crossed (and physical therapy to help decide if I need foot surgery on both feet, I'm a mess. Prayers too please)
Have a good day
Tri-cities here!!
There are many ways, but this one my friend used: "Method I used was a Dixie cup with 2tbs of baking soda in a smallish bakery bucket with a lid. Put chick in bucket, add 2 Tbs vinegar to baking soda, place lid on bucket. Creates carbon dioxide and works quickly."How does one cull a chick? I've never even given it any thought as I've never had to do it. Curious.
