Anyone have any good advice or plans for building a chicken run? I need to build a run that is somewhat modular in case we ever change out the coop. Basically something that can stand alone if not attached to a coop. We'd like to do a run that is about 8x10; I was thinking about 6ft tall, which is actually a bit taller than the coop itself.
are you doing a wood frame for the run area?We are in the process of building a 8x12 coop (really wish we would of just bought a prefabricated shed). Once its finished & placed we are going to trench out where the fencing will go (about 2 feet deep for predators, thank goodness we have a trencher) thinking at least 68+ feet of fencing. We have 9 chickens & 8 ducks so extra room for the pond.

Cattle panels make good run fencing, but all the fencing so far discussed would have to be covered with hardware cloth (the bottom 2-3 feet) and chicken wire (the rest of it).
Predator proofing. Raccoons and what not could reach through chain link and separate a chicken from it's favorite parts. Why add hardware cloth or chicken wire in addition to the chain link?
