Over the past week we've gotten just about two foot of snow. My empty coop that will be for the turkey poults has been converted to a house for piglets. The normal pen and shelter for them is buried. Hopefully it warms up soon because I still had some work that needed done to get ready for the poults.

Both ducks also lost another nest of eggs. And even more fun my DH has said he's done plowing because it digging up everything. So we have tire ruts to follow for the drive and out to the animals. I'm so glad I didn't cave to hatching chicks this spring!

Snow hasn't been bad, but I set eggs expecting some spring like weather. I have 117 chicks and poults hatched and another 50 in the next week and a half. I can't brood that many indoors, I have a rabbit cage full and two 100L totes. I just got a brooder box knocked together in the coop to help make some space.

Looks like the weather should improve dramatically by the end of this week so all the little birdies are getting evicted then!!!!

I potted up around 40 tomato plants on Friday. They were getting tooooo leggy. Hoping that burying them up to their leaves will help that, along with the weather cooperating so I can put them in the greenhouse during the day.

Yeah, we're kinda doing the same thing here. Just had my brother drive up and down the driveway a few times with his truck. with the crushed asphalt in our driveway, once the sun hits it it warms up and melts off more of the drive. At least it would be if it wasn't spitting snow again.

I got a call yesterday from a local CSA that wants to include my eggs in their shares. Now I have to do some figuring on whether I can provide as many as they need. If it works out it would be great. They also would like me to do some chicken keeping classes. It all stArted because a friend gave the owner a dozen of my eggs.

If it actually happens I will need some younger hens for fall and that means chicks! 1mutt you have just had to add the YET!

Thankfully we only got four new inches of snow yesterday.

You might need to be certified by usda or mdard and have a LLC or DBA at least (if you don't already) if you are third-party selling to the csa as the csa is then the one selling your eggs. Something to consider....

My understanding is they have the eggs as an add on item to their shares. They tell them where they are coming from and they can opt in or out to have them added. I'll have to check on it.
