Trapped a coon yesterday.  Took four shots to the head to make it die.  It was upsetting to me.   Love animals so hard to see.  If they would just stay on the other side of the fence!!  And not eat my shoes....

only four shots you're lucky.

You look cute

My SDcard was wiped somehow, but the camera memory saved the first few I shot (out of about 300 pictures)

Here's a shot from CS 2013, there's the Banner we're missing. I looked back at my 2014 and 2015 file photos and found we did NOT have the banner those years. Maybe Opa (Sam) know's where it is. If anyone can ask him, or anyone knows where it is that would be nice. I'd drive to get it for next year.

Ugh. I have two raccoons hanging around as well. My run is not enclosed. I have purposely been locking the birds up in the secure coop early. Tonight my rooster was gone when I went out well before dusk. I saw one of the raccoons and found a few of his feathers in some long grass near by. This is my first batch of chickens and my first loss. Should I keep my 5 other birds locked in the coop until we can trap and shoot the raccoons?

Once critters learn where they can get a free meal, it is likely they will return. Hence, it might be best to keep them locked up until the immediate threat is gone. Unfortunately, free-ranging always comes with risks.

Keep you birds in their safe coop, set live traps, and shoot the varmits! Your predators will return until all the birds are dead, or you kill them. UGH! My coop and run are now very safe, after many bad experiences over the years. I have both the medium and larger sized live traps, and raccoons and possums aren't too difficult to trap. Once. That's why you must shoot, not release. Mary
