Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I've had 2 raccoons in the coop this week. They're coming in through the trap door before the chickens even go in to roost. So far they've just gotten eggs and no birds. Any ideas to keep them away?

Raz, can you get some eggs from someone to hatch instead? My big birds would be mixes, but how about some cute Belgian d'Uccles? Candy and Bret might have eggs available that would be purebred too. Mary
I'm sure I could. The big question is should I? I got eggs from them (Candy & Brett) at CS15. Good stock but they were all roos. Eggs from John were ducks and they were male as well.
I really don't want to hatch anything right now. So my question was kind of rhetorical. If I'm in Hospital, I don't have much say in the matter. A broody will do what she will if I'm not here to stop it.

On the other hand, coming home to fuzz butts is sure to lift my spirits.

Yes that's what we do but we use tuna or eggs. But keep bait in middle of cage. They are sneaky and will try to scoop it with their paws and eat it down with out ever entering the cage.

And killing them..they don't go easy. So be ready. Those things have 9 lives.

Sorry about that, lol

On the other hand...yes, having a few little one's running about will be a great morale booster and keep your mind occupied!

So, I hate to report, but my camera let me down...the SD card had a glitch. I've posted CS pictures for a few years and had fun doing it. This year I'm sad to say there are none, or maybe one, or two, that I can try and piece together. Like my teacher always said " the best pictures are the ones we have stored in out heads".

I did look back at my files and saw the "Backyard Chicken" banner was la

st used in 2014. Someone has it. It would be nice to reinstate it at 2017 if anyone knows where it is?

I will try and piece together a few shots from the camera's memory, no promises. Let's just say Brett did an outstanding job as grill master!

That they do. There's been a time or two I've had to put another round in one just to hurry things along with them.

Trapped a coon yesterday. Took four shots to the head to make it die. It was upsetting to me. Love animals so hard to see. If they would just stay on the other side of the fence!! And not eat my shoes....

That dog is adorable.... lol Really, you had to save THAT picture?
