Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi everybody! I went to a 4-H info meeting yesterday and I really want to show chickens but 4-H starts in January, and I won't have chickens until early March... But I will be doing crafts for some extra money for my future chickens. I was originally going to buy an Easter egger, but I figured, that since the judges sometimes call them a "mutt breed" so I decided not to get some EE's for my first year. So I been looking for a good breed to show in fair, so when I saw cmccllough1390's roommate's partridge silkies i was like: " they are the one for me!" Lol. So now that is my new mission, I guess you could call it, to own at least two partridge silkies! Any advice about 4-H or partridge silkies would be GREAT! Thanks in advance!

Good morning! Fowlfest was fun to visit yesterday, as always. So many Seramas and Silkies! Lots of other birds too. I didn't actually meet any other BYC folks, and my three bantam pullets stayed in the car and came home with me. Added more leg bands for the flock, and enjoyed myself. Mary

GUYS OH MY GOSH A FANTABULAS THING JUST HAPPENED!!!! if you remember a while back i was deciding whether or not to go to a city township meeting to discuss chicken keeping, they allowed us to have one for each member of our family (6), and today in the newspaper, ON THE FRONT PAGE, was a headline reading: Board OKs chicken keeping policy, and other rules"! then you turn the page and it says" you can keep up to 10, 10, chickens, but no roosters and it must be at least 200 feet from the road". the perfect conditions for us! me and my little brother are the most happiest! lol, we were just designing the coop interior when my little sister, (they are twins) ran up to me and said "Sophie Sophie you've GOT to read this!" eeep! my mom and dad even said they would allow us to own more than six chickens!!!! i can not even explain my happiness to you right now!
