Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'm going to throw this out here and hope for a win.

Since my mom passed away I have no more obligation to stay in this area. I'm free to move anywhere that I like. So who would like to have me as a neighbor?

If anyone gets a lead on a decent (or fixer-upper) house with a little bit of land, preferably away from city people and nosy neighbors please let me know.

With any luck I can sell mom's house and mine and be moved within 6 months or so.

PS Anyone need a black Australorp cockerel? He's ~11 weeks old. He has to go before he starts crowing.
Where? Huge difference these days and looking into the future where you can be, relatively, free from developing restrictions. North of me in the Shelby, Rothbury, New Era, Hart area is prime farm country and there is always another farm up for sale. Plus you get to be fairly close the Lake Michigan which is a plus.

how much land? like acres? anywho, there are I think 2-3 house up for sale around these parts...
Depends on price but 3-5 acres would be nice. Where are you located? General area.

Thanks, I'll start researching those areas. I did like Coopersville the one time I was out there. Visited Daron's place before he moved, I liked it and the surrounding area.

Imlay City/North Branch are still farm friendly.
I was thinking about Lapeer area. I loved it at the EMU Environmental campus. I'll look at IC/NB too.

Entire UP is full of GDI's. Pretty cold up here tho.
What is GDI's? If I lived close to you would you hire me as a ranch hand?

Thanks for the ideas. Keep those tips coming.
I am so ready to leave this unfriendly area for greener pastures.

Yeah Randy, so Daron lives close to me now, Fremont area. Coopersville is nice but again you are between Grand Rapids and the Lake which means more urban sprawl and that idiotic behavior that praises "green" but means "no chickens for you". North is always a better bet. Stay away from the UP unless you like 11 months of winter and 1 month of poor sledding.

While I don't enjoy that the babies have discovered the nest boxes, I do look forward to them hopefully soon joining the big girls in the big coop that has an automatic door. It's still pretty chilly in the mornings!
