Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We had some rain here but no major storm. The rain was much needed.
Where I worked at in Ann Arbor our parking lot got flooded on Friday night. Happened in under 90 minutes as it wasn't raining when I went into my last session, and it had stopped raining by the time it had ended.

Sure could use the rain around here, but dang, not all at once!!

Chicken Math might be happening to me soon. My aunt texted me about her friend who is moving sometime soon and needs to find a new home for her nine hens and 2 roosters. Not even sure yet on what breeds they are or even how old they are. I really don't have a use for the roosters as I don't want them thinking that little Belle might be a threat to the girls and be wanting to tear her up. But I could be interested in some of the hens if they're not just old biddies. at worse I could help them find a more permanent home for them, even if I just end up being a middle man to them ending up in a stock pot. Will have to find out more information on that later. I might be able to supply somebody an extra bird or two to help their girls keep their own coop warm this winter.

Good (rainy) morning, all!
So just when I thought mu pullets had learned to drink out of the cups, and my worries were over, I step in there to find that they'd unscrewed one of the cups and drained the dispenser dry! What a mess!
I removed, and replaced the wet bedding, but now I worry that, that's their new game! Is it safe to use superglue around chickens? would superglue even hold?

Good luck on placing those hens, bigmrg74!

Hi, just wondering if anyone out there is a Waterford resident? I have an opportunity to get chicks and would love to have them, but from what I can see it doesn't look promising to have them in Waterford Twp. I do live in a subdivision also and that may be a problem too. If anyone knows info on this or where I can find it please let me know. Thanks
Sadly you cannot have chickens unless you live on at least 5 acres of land which is ridiculous

One of our 3 year old chickens has been acting strange today. She stayed on the roost all morning and didn't come out until I picked her up and put her out. I have observed her drinking water but she isn't really doing much else. We checked for a bound egg but didn't feel anything. One other thing I can think of is we did give them a good amount of "treats" (table scraps) yesterday. More than we normally give. She was acting fine yesterday evening when she went to roost. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks
