Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Rather chilly today but it was still nice to be outside all day.
I got lumber cut to make 7 bluebird houses. Then moved a rack of firewood up to the porch. Gathered 10 chicken eggs and 2 turkey eggs. It was a wonderful day here at the new homestead.

My stepdad's parents had a place near Caseville on the water. I miss going there so much. Those are some of my best childhood memories.

You are welcome to come visit. I'm walking distance to the water and Sleeper State Park. Plus I have plenty of room for tents and/or campers. Not so much in the house though. :D

Isn't that the way it's supposed to be? Tiny house, big yard.

I went looking at the map. It was between Thompson and Oak Beach county parks, so the address was Port Austin.

Thank you for the kind words. I am grateful for everything. My dad was a rare man who taught me so much. I am proud to be his daughter.

Raz, if you didn't go through all the crap in GC, you may either still be there or not where you are now. I think you're in a better place because of all the crap!

With my dad passing, my mom is probably going to sell the farm I hunted for 40 years... (yes I'm that old)... Last night the guy who owns 30 acres next to me offered me a reasonable, full rights hunting lease! Plus the neighbor behind us sold his property to someone and so I may try to contact them to see if I could lease theirs as well. Some times, good things come out of the bad.

Absolutely. When the garage is finished it will have more square footage than the house. That has always been a dream of mine.

Going east on M-25, you pass Sleeper State Park, then Philp county park, past the pink pig mail box and the yellow house with red trim. Turn right on Quarry Road (just past the first pedestrian crossing sign). Go to the very end, past where the pavement ends until it dead ends. The address is also Old Trail in Lake Township but the mailing address is Old Sand Road in Caseville. Not to be confused with Sand Road, New Sand Road, Sand Street or Sand Point. Confused yet? And if you use GPS you'll end up in Oak Beach.

Based on how well you treated and helped me out, I would say that you were raised pretty darn well.

You are probably right about the move. On the other hand, it took my mom's passing as the real reason that I could leave GC. So I get what you are saying. You are always welcome to come up this way to hunt and fish. I only have 7 acres but it is state land on 3 sides. Lots of deer, turkey, geese, and varmints.

So where have you found a hidden nest?
This one is in a lawn decoration that has been buried in the snow. The eggs were frozen and cracked but the dogs won't mind. It's a good treat for them.
