Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It.is.WET...not just from all the rain that has fallen,
that can't dry up because of the humidity,
which may be caused from all the rain that has fallen.....

Two more ~90° days(AAACK) then it's gonna cool off(WHEW).

My daughter was visiting in August, she lives in NC.
She said the humidity and heat can be worse down there,
but in the mountains the air moves daily up and down the slopes,
whereas here it just sits and steams ya.

So... hope everyone fared well after the storms over the weekend! We were camping down in Calhoun co. area and a tornado went by just north of us, we could hear it roaring through. Jackson got hit near my friends home, but no damage done. Made for an exciting evening. We got a bike ride in over to Lake Michigan... but it was almost too hot to ride. It was still a good weekend.

Yep, when we move south we are hoping to get some mountain property.

Folly - you have a deal!

The Poker run ended at the first stop on Saturday. Voltage regulator needs to be replaced. I was really looking to make that run. Just barely got the bike home before killing the battery completely.
Rain all night made for a sloppy car show on Sunday. I thought for sure that someone would bet stuff on the wet park grass but none of the 103 cars did.
More rain on Monday and guess what we had all last night.
At least the puddles show me the low spots that needed to graded and graded and graded.
Making the most of what is.

XD Guess who was finishing camping in Jackson and Albion and Onstead as the clouds gathered? We'd just made it to a hotel in Jackson as the heavens opened up and flooded and blew everything around in the dark. It made driving to church the next morning interesting. Some of the little roads on the way to the chapel flooded up or were closed for half a tree removal. I feel like we were really blessed on our timing. That could have been really bad.

Compared to over by Detroit, Jackson has beautifully paved roads. AND THE INTERCITY BIKE TRAIL. Secretly, that was why DH planned a vacation to over there in the first place. He's gotta ride his road bikes. Plus, Tour DeTroit is coming next weekend so a trial run was in order (but son #2 got motion sick around the falling waters trail transition, so in the end our 26 mile ride became a 10ish mile ride).

It is totally really beautiful out that way. Whenever we go out to the ruralish michigan areas we come home wanting to move there. Both dh and I grew up more ruralish than metro detroit and we really miss it and the lack of traffic. This time he really, really did. He called the irish hills a road biker's paradise a few times. Not sure what a high level programmer would do in Onstead though (other than ride his bikes).

LOL, you should have seen the roads in Jackson city a few months ago - worst EVER. They have been redoing all the city and suburb streets. Many of the back county roads are pretty bad, but areas near MIS and Irish hills are good because it's all been maintained better for race and faster horses traffic. We love riding through Irish hills on our motorcycles too. I live in the area.

I love the county road commission up here. Our dirt roads are better than many of the paved roads in Wayne County.
I live on a dead end dirt road and it gets graded at least twice a year. It could use a truck load of new gravel though. Thee dirt bikes and quad riders tend to damage the turn around with doughnuts and just being jerks.
The paved roads are wonderful for motorcycling. The rides are awesome.
