So, RaZ, hope your first day at new job went well. Did you get the post holes dug? Beautiful day yesterday.

First day wearing the red vest went well. I really like it there. Co-workers are great! Spent most of the day doing computer-based training. But I did get to help a couple of customers. It was fun.

Addendum.
My first day was only part-time. I was home with lots of day-light to work with. I was able to expand the run with better security. I think the hens like it.

Still more to do for security but we are getting closer.

The mistake they made, was not calling the police first. So the cops could see what the dog did... not the other way around...

They called the police several times and reported the dog on their property trying to get in the fence, but since it was always gone by the time anybody got there they were told there was nothing that could be done. And this was after it had attacked the neighbors farm (who was,ironically enough, a cop) and killed their birds, so the police already knew about this dog. The only reason they shot the dog was because it was threatening Pat when she tried to go in to the goat.

It's chilly here tho 21°....
...I stood with my face in the sun and hot egg hand warmers in my pockets.
Then came in and saw a heartbeat in an egg I thought was a dud,
still think it wont make it(wonky air cell), but cool to see for sure.

Yes, more bird song lately....and heard peepers a couple nights ago for the first time.

We boiled about 20 gallons of sap down on Saturday. After finishing up in the kitchen we ended up with 2 quarts.

Can't wait to hear the peepers! But we still have 1 1/2 feet of snow, so it may be a little longer.
