Caribou hunting was a unique experience that was unlike anything I had ever done. I've gone 4 times but unfortunately the cost is now prohibitive. The first hunt cost $2400. The 4th time it was $4400 and that included the license for two caribou and all of our meals. Now it is $6500 plus an additional $650 for your hunting license.

oh no....the parking lot is where I limped and squealed (tire was locked up) into.......I was getting ready to get back on the highway!!
OH! Well, I am glad you weren't hurt anyway!

Today was a bad day for some pedestrian crossing US31 and Riley... Not a nice thing to see, some poor bloke running to get across the highway, and another bloke turning right onto the highway, not paying any dam attention to the fact that there is a guy crossing, hits the gas pedal and runs the guy over... The pedestrian was about 10 feet from having gotten all the way across a 4 lane highway...

I am glad it seems like most everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Opa, sorry that you had to get a new stove but glad that things turned out fine.
DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary tomorrow

I know 1mutts had some Cream Legbar so I would guess those are them. That Frizzled mom is so cute!

My guys are not loving the snow. No one much wanted to venture out except my Orloffs who don't even seem to notice the stuff. I still haven't changed over waterers to heated ones. They haven't been frozen solid yet. I am convinced that lights do nothing. I have used lights for an additional 2 -3 hours during the winter since I have had chickens. This year was the first year I have kept track of the egg production. I don't see that a light really does much to increase egg production. I think production is very consistent until they molt and then they take a LONG time to come back from it. I will say it does depend on the breed but I have those darn lazy (but cute) Polish and Heritage as opposed to production.

I bought an antique singer sewing machine base a while back and have put off building a top for it. Every time I have to get the sewing machine out and set it up on the dining room table, I loath having to pack it all away when I'm done. So I finally scrounged around the barn for a table top and found this cupboard/closet door. There's an identical one in the bathroom that has been refinished. This one is back in the barn tonight. I spent most of the afternoon stripping it so I can stain it. When finished, it will be mounted so the overhang is on the left (not the right as in the photographs) and I will finish putting the base together (missing pieces are in the garage). Can't wait to get it done!

And I got my BYC calendar in the mail today too. My Barred Rock pullet is Ms. February. It turned out really nice all around. Love all the pictures.
