Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Blew like a fiend here all afternoon and through the night, Kept waking up when things hit the house and the roof. They had the bridge shut down not just for high profile vehicles but even some larger pickup trucks. Just the kind of storm that took out the Edmund F. Still very blustery today.

Very windy here too. Kind of surprised that nothing big came down. If it did, it's out in the woods and will become firewood. Very thankful we didn't lose power, because it can be out for a few days on our road.

Tossed a couple tablespoons of BOSS into the bedding in the coop for the chickens to play with. Coop, run, and birds all are fine today too, thank goodness. Some sunshine and still mildly windy here today; I just took out some greens for chickie snack.

Day 4 on chia fodder experiment... seed leaves showing so I have them under the light. :)

Anyone else have the wicked wind of yesterday? It was howling along the lake. Whitecaps rolling in one right after another. Radio said steady winds at 50 MPH. Not sure what it was here...the wind took down my weather station.

No power when I got home but that wasn't unexpected for this area. Had the generator running for the refrigerator, radio, and a light. Power was restored around 2?00 am. All animals weathered the storm just fine. And I didn't lose any big trees. Hope everyone else who had storms got through it alright.
We lost power twice and took a few hours to get it back. Lots of items in the run blew around but we all came out okay! No large scale damage thankfully.

Looking forward to 3 sunny and warmish days ahead.
Plan to move some more wood chips to run,
some sand to the 'under-run' for winter dust bathing,
and drag big ladder out to get upper coop windows 'cleaned' and shut and upper vents baffled.
The sand is kind of funny, big pile out in woods from when I excavated the ponds and filter pits 15+ years ago. Glad it's still there so I don't have to buy any.

That wind is still stinging. Had the chickens out yesterday, but after spotting a hawk in the field hunting the birds at the feeder, they went in the run to stay.

Thanksgiving plans cancelled. Just too risky. My son from Chicago wasn't going to come and my son in Okemos with a 3 month old baby wasn't coming. My two daughters and their families were going to come. But with some of them working outside the home, just didn't want to risk it. But, I'm sad. Look forward to the family getting together. No pizza nights either for awhile. Just want life to get back to normal.
Stay warm. Stay well. Wear masks!!
