Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi Lovelies!
Hope everyone is doing fine. @RaZ how are you doing today? it was a not so warm day. It was close to 70 around here and though it could not be good for you and your pain.
I just decided to have a selfie day with the girls after I got back from FFH from buying another aluminum can with lid for the feed and found a water heater just like SallyPB said. Here are some pictures that I have not posted in a bit. You can see Phoebe loving the camera from the cell phone. I guess she was able to see herself in it,lol She is doing good. Friday I am planning to get them all individually and bring them inside wrapped in a towel and put them on my scale to see how much they weight at 30 wks old. They are all doing good, full crop at night and empty in the morning. They just cannot wait until morning to get out. On my way back home a neighbor from a few streets away, had a table with cabbage and tomatoes fromher yard, so I stopped an dbought a cabbage and made ahole in the middle with a screw driver and hung it for the girls. They tore that thing up.
Enjoy a few pictures while the others are still downloading to computer!

Hey all hope everyone is enjoying the mild temps. Fall is my favorite season. Mornings are crisp and days are much more manageable.

Raz…hope you find some relief with your shoulder issue soon. I’m sorry you’re not able to manage your pain. That is awful.

I finally go all the scrap wood burned this weekend from the original clean up. Now waiting for the excavator to come and rebuild the driveway that washed away this spring/summer.

it never ends does it??!!😊

I do have a question for you all…do woodchucks mess with chickens?? I have a few that are digging near the run and I know they are great diggers and can get under the run run fencing.

just wondering if I need to be worried about them.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!
Woodchucks will eat chicken feed, a LOT of chicken feed! We had one last year who made a mess out there, until it finally went into the coop while I was nearby, and we were able to shoot it. Good riddance!
If yours is digging into the run, that run isn't secure enough, and any predator will take advantage of that hole.
They can be hard to live trap; ours tripped a couple of traps and actually chewed an opening through one big enough to get out! One ruined trap, laughing woodchuck...

Thanks Mary! He’s not digging in thank goodness. No intruders have gotten in yet. I just know those little guys are true diggers.
All good otherwise so far. Thanks again.

Good late morning everyone!
Woke up late by 6:58am and by the time I was in the kitchen from bathroom, the girls were screaming bloody murder. I realized by 2am that I had forgotten to completely lock the side door and when I heard the noise, I checked the cameras and they were all there. They just wanted out of their jailhouse. So made their food and let them out. While cleaning, Phoebe had no problem me being there. She just went up the nest to take care of her main duty.

Aart I answered your question on how was Blanch but cannot find your answer as to if she was molting. I did checked for parasites according to some readings and there is none. What is your input?

RaZ hoping and praying that you find healing soon for your shoulder. It is hard too work the land and have a bad shoulder. You are not really alone. We are here to give you support and motivation. I know that if there is a need for anyone close to you, they will go to lend you and hand or two or a shoulder. At least is what I see about this group. We are as close to a family member or closer to each other. I am blessed for all of you. I appreciate you all and I am honored to be here with you all.

Anyways, you guys had me working hard this morning. Never heard about a "woodchuck" which is is another term for a groundhog. Good to know. I guess it goes with the area how things are called. The only thing I could bring to mind was the tongue-twister,lol

So, before I go out to do a full clean up and make sure there are no holes or cracks in the coop before colder air comes, here it goes the tongue-twister:

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

:lau :lau :lau
Love ya all!
