Aart I answered your question on how was Blanch but cannot find your answer as to if she was molting. I did checked for parasites according to some readings and there is none. What is your input?
I didn't have an additional answer.....
Looks like pecking or mating damage...common in that area.
How old is she, in weeks or months?

Randy, is your shoulder dislocated?
Mary
I don't think so. The x-ray didn't show anything unusual. It might be a soft tissue thing. They want to schedule some PT and a visit to the orthopedic doctor. Should know in a day or two. The new wrinkle is an odd sound in my lungs which sent me in for a chest x-ray.

If it ain't one thing it's another.

Somehow this didn't get posted yesterday...

I'm supposed to hear today about an appointment with an orthopedic doctor and PT. I'm going to try light duty chores today to help keep the shoulder from locking up.

The neighbor that I've been helping with firewood (& vise versa) found a wood stove with double the capacity of mine. He and his friend are supposed to bring it over today. Probably won't get it in the house just yet. I need to get the old stove out and the living room prepped for the new one. Could have used the fire last night. I'm not liking this cool weather

Glad you're moving ahead with your shoulder injury, and that it's not dislocated. Healing time will be a while, do the PT!
And I'm loving the cooler weather!!!
Cornishx chicks are HUGE already, and all fourteen are still doing okay. Restricting meals to eight to nine hours per day really helps the poor guys. hate raising them, but here we are.
We have a missing bird, of course not one of the cockerels, I think one of the Chantie pullets. No sign of anything , must look further today.

Hi Lovelies!
Hope everyone is doing fine. @RaZ how are you doing today? it was a not so warm day. It was close to 70 around here and though it could not be good for you and your pain.
I just decided to have a selfie day with the girls after I got back from FFH from buying another aluminum can with lid for the feed and found a water heater just like SallyPB said. Here are some pictures that I have not posted in a bit. You can see Phoebe loving the camera from the cell phone. I guess she was able to see herself in it,lol She is doing good. Friday I am planning to get them all individually and bring them inside wrapped in a towel and put them on my scale to see how much they weight at 30 wks old. They are all doing good, full crop at night and empty in the morning. They just cannot wait until morning to get out. On my way back home a neighbor from a few streets away, had a table with cabbage and tomatoes fromher yard, so I stopped an dbought a cabbage and made ahole in the middle with a screw driver and hung it for the girls. They tore that thing up.
Enjoy a few pictures while the others are still downloading to computer!

Oh wow they are so big now. I remember when you got them as chicks

Apples are the best live trap bait for woodchucks.
I've read they also like cantaloupe. I need to trap a couple of them. If I do catch one, I'll feed it lead pills. They can be very destructive.

@aart, what is the fibrous stuff called that you use in the winter to cut down the draft in your soffit vents? I remember it being blue. Does it come in white?

I need some of that for a couple of ventilation areas in my coop addition. The one that faces west was getting quite a breeze through it yesterday afternoon. I cut up an old T-shirt and stapled that over to knock it down a little. It's great for the summer, but it'll be too cold, too much at roost level, in the winter.

Furnace filter....I bought it by the foot off a 3' wide roll.
Might be able to find white, I just bought what they had local, didn't care what color it was

Shoulder suggestion for over the next few days. Fill a long sock with white rice. Tie a knot in it. Nuke it. (Microwave for small time slots) I start at 1 minutes and go up in 30 sec increments till it’s *almost too hot*. Drape across shoulder.

or pour raw epson salt onto a hot & wet washcloth to lay on the shoulder.

Well I went and overdid it today. My woodcutting friend and his buddy brought over a new wood stove for me. It has twice the capacity of the one I have. We sat around for a few hours drinking beer and shooting the breeze. After a brief rainstorm I used my tractor to get the stove up on the front porch. My only physical effort was moving the control levers for the loader. The stove is on the porch and staged to move into the living room. I just have to clear the living room and pull out the old stove. That is a task that will have to wait until later.

The only real work I did today was gather eggs and fill the feed and water bowls. Even so, it took a toll on me. However, the aches and pains were caused by actually doing something productive. At least I'm not suffering from a couch potato mishap. All in all, this is a good ache. I can deal with that.
