Is the heater for a waterer or......?
The heater is probably going to draw much more power than light/fan.
Any power source to a coop should be plugged into a GFCI, or better yet an AFCI.
That's the only electrical advice I can give.
Thanks Aart. I think I have electrical cable and that is one thing I am not afraid of. I can run it from the pantry room which is directly by the coop. I can plug it to the outlet and then put a GFCI outlet in the coop. Would that work? I will need to change the outlet inside to an GFCI too, right? There are dual outlets (AFCI/GFCI)

Dream, you don't need a heater for the coop. You'll need a heated waterer. I use a heated dog bowl that has worked great for me since I don't have hens with big wattles. I do have electricity in my coop since I have a son in law that is an electrician.
Just came back from a camping trip in Holland. Was lots of fun. One more on the list. South Haven for the Halloween bash. Still working on my zombie dolls and some "guts" and painting flamingos into vultures. Can't wait!
Raz, grapefruit is suppose to help clear out sinus infections. Juice, or maybe grapefruit seen extract to knock it out. Feel better. Hope your shoulder feels better soon. I thought when my shoulder was hurting that the doctor would put me in a sling and tell me to rest it. Instead, I went to PT where I had to do exercises to help strengthen the rotary cuff. It worked. So maybe you need therapy.
Wish I had known. You could have stopped in your way to or from, :lau I do not know much about electricity but if it is a plug or a receptacle, I can do it. I did a three way when I moved here and was not working. Called an electric company and charged me 200 Washingtons to do nothing. It was the wifi that was not working, I will not do any 220. Did it once and it sent me across the floor about 6 ft and I pee myself. Never again. So, dryers and electrical stoves are out for me,:D Hub is a sissy when it comes to electricity. :lau

Raz, heed Rose words of advise. The muscles if not exercised will stay in that position and they will not come back at the same strength. After I broke my ankle 3 yrs ago, I did some therapy but I have 2 toes that I cannot curl at my own will because I did not exeercised them. Get with your MD and ask for physical therapy for it. Yeah, PT like she said, oops!

I have a follow up with my regular doc today for the shoulder. I've had a sling on from the urgent care of last week. Looking in the mirror I can see a large baseball sized lump on top of the shoulder. Just touching it sends waves of white-hot pain from neck to hand. Haven't been able to sleep for over a week now. Never felt pain like this before. Even heart surgery pain was a breeze compared to this.

I didn't get the coop closed up last night. It was nice thunderstorm going on and I didn't go out. So of course there was a ruckus in the coop around 4:00 am. A nice big opossum was dining at the feeder. Hens didn't like sharing. Anyway, I took the feeder out and Mr. Possum followed me out of the coop. No further trouble occurred. That is the first wildlife encounter I've had all spring/summer.

Just goes to show that I have a lot of chores before the real cold weather sets in. I just need to get healthy in order to get stuff done. This solitary life is taking a toll on these old bones. :old

Hang in there…. & I too wonder if what Mary said is a significant issue with your shoulder?

I need to get one of those heated water bowl. Which one do you recommend?
I got the big blue one at TSC. $40... I think? I'm going to get a second one when I see them there. The cord is wrapped with wire, like a loose spring, so that if a dog chews it, he won't sever it and get zapped. It's sold as a dog's water bowl for outside in the winter.

I bet it holds nearly a gallon. I used it as a "water jacket" to keep the chickens' water bowl thawed. I thought it would be big enough so that when my doofus cockerel, Darl, perched on the edge, he wouldn't flip it over. It never flipped.

But Darl did dunk his wattles in it often enough when it was really cold to get frostbite on them. He can't help that they hang down pretty low.
