Another beautiful day but colder than yesterday. Supposed to be in the 50s for the weekend. I need to get this windfall cut and stacked. Did some yesterday, but my big saw didn't want to run so I used the smaller trimming saw. I need to put a sharp chain on it today. Provided I can remember where I put the extra chains.

Did some raking of the chicken run and parts of the yard. I love using the tractor and attachments. Makes me happy to see that 6-foot swath of cleared land. I do a couple of passes between the house & garage and house & coop. It clears the rocks and smooths out where I walk. It also helps make the paths less muddy come mud season. An easy, safe walkway is more important nowadays. I use my cane any time I go to the coop or garage. I just have to make extra trips if I have anything to carry. I need to free up one of my wagons.

So many things to do but the cold weather has frozen my motivation. I need to set my tail feathers on fire.

Lots of lilacs though! Deep purple, light blue-pink, several varieties, all needing to move on because they are too dense.

OOO!!! Where do I go for lilacs, if you have any left??

One of my 5 month old pullets laid her first egg today! 44 grams! That's as big as my first set of girls did after about 4-5 weeks of laying! And, she did it in the nest box, right off the bat. You go girl!!

I'm pretty sure it's Stormy. She's been roosting with the adults, but down on the poop board, and they let her. She squatted for me last week, and she went into the nest box for a moment earlier this week. Darl, my roo, has shown a little interest in her "that way" recently.

I hope I have bought my last dozen eggs at the store for.... ever! (LOL)

Not completely. Snow is sticking in patches but there is still plenty of soft spots.

The ground is not frozen yet, this is the first two nights of hard freeze that we've had so far this year. Both waterers were skimmed with thick ice, so I put them in the coop for tonight. Bah, humbug to the skiing
Good news is that it's going to warm back up again with lows in the upper 30s to 40s for at least a week.

My kind of skiing is going down the intermediate trail like a lazy river run. Do it twice then grab the wine, hit the hot tub with the other ladies, watch the men freeze their butts off
