Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My house is in a little hollow surrounded by tall evergreens. This time of the year the sun does not make it over the tops of the trees, so we see only flashes of sunlight through the branches.
I'm surrounded by a whole forest of tall trees. The only clear view of the sky is the power lines on the south end of the property. Or the lake shore to the north.
I went out last night to see the Geminids but it was too hazy to see any.

We lucked out with our property. It's about half woods, half field.

We rang in the New Year on 2000 standing on a hill watching the sky, to see if the laws of gravity had been repealed and airplanes were going to fall out of the sky. They hadn't, and they didn't.

A couple weeks before Christmas, 1999, an IT guy wanted to make sure that all the computers would run come Jan 2, 2000. So he changed the date on them, they booted, and he changed it back.

The next morning, none of the software would load. Because the date had been changed back, the license expired. Took half the morning to get that fixed.

New Years Eve 1999/2000. I was working the midnight shift at the truck plant. Corporate had the entire plant on lock down. All doors to the outside were locked from the outside and they had armed mercenaries patrolling the factory perimeter.

Get ready to batten down the hatches. The radio says that winds will be high tonight with sustained wind of 40 mph and gusts over 60.
I hope they are wrong..
