Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They had 70 mile an hour winds, tornado warnings, the shed blown over, garbage cans flying down the road.

The car was dented while my daughter was in it. She checked the weather before going to pick up some medicine. The fore cast was overcast and a chance of rain... nothing about this wind. She was driving between rows of cars to a parking place when a cart (that was properly stowed in the front of the cart rack frame thing) was yanked back all the way out by wind, spun 180 and shoved straight at her car. It came hard enough to dent through the grill and dent the hood too.

The kids are all ok.

We lost 50 shingles and two kayaks are out blown at least out of the yard, I haven't found them yet. Nothing else serious. Lots of branches but small ones. They might have dinged the truck but I didn't even try to tell those dings from the hail that totaled the truck a couple of years ago.

I hope the rest of you are ok

Where are you in MI?

Only had gusts toppings at 30mph overnight, no damage that I can see from here.
Power still on, but water heater out...easy fix and already heating back up.

The 70 mph was out on the Great Plains at the kids

There wasn't a line at the store when I bought shingles so think it was a combination of the hill that usually shelters us caught the angle badly this time and we tried to stretch redoing the roof until next year.

not sure about gust strength
I use WeatherUnderground and there's a station about a mile or so away at a friends house.
It's got lots of options, including the readings like this:

It was 61 degrees when I got up this morning. It's now 53 and supposed to drop further this afternoon. Wind had been a steady 20mph with gust of 25 according to my gizmo.

I need to put the Jeep on the battery charger. I think my alternator is or has crapped out. This car is turning into a money pit but with 300k miles on it I guess it's to be expected.

Well the power was on but it's off again now. The closest weather station to my house is over on Mackinac Island, and they are registering winds sustained around 30 and gusting up to about 50. You can see and hear the waves of wind passing through the trees around the house, a really weird stereo affect. I stopped at the gas station up at the top of the hill on us-2 for the generator to have on hand, and when I open my car door a big gust came along and almost ripped it out of my hands, blew everything in the car around, I slammed my door shut and waited until it passed while the car shuddered. When I hopped out the guy behind me did too and we were both pretty wide-eyed.
