Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Because of those issues, especially in winter, I line my poop shelves with feed sacks.

You can always slide the feed sack out, pop off the poo, then replace the feed sack.
Thanks for that tip - I am going to try that with my quail cages.

I got this set of cages off Craigslist for half the price of a new one, it's just missing a water trough, but I may change to a different type of water system anyway. Looking for one that won't freeze in winter. The Quail will be housed in a shed. Since I'm getting old, I split them into two 3 cage racks and added legs to raise them up to my height for easy access. I figured out what type of quail I'm going to order. Just need to wait for the hatching rails to come in so I can order the eggs.

I will probably have quail/eggs to bring to CS if anyone is interested. I'll bring some bunnies and chicks (sumatra and faverolle) if anyone is interested as well. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Glad to hear that Sam is doing good.

So I finally had my run in with covid, DH brought it home while traveling for work. It is a bugger of a thing. It messes with every part in your head, ears, sinuses, killer headache, brain function - felt like I was in such a fog and unable to even think. The coughing blows, and I feel completely winded all the time.... ugh. Makes it hard to do chores in the 5* weather! Going on the 3rd week of it and my tests are negative at least now. I get better a tiny bit every day. We had two good friends that had it much worse than we did, one survived though barely, and is finally home, the other lost her battle.

Raz, Lume stores carry both a CBD cream and a "relief stick", they have done wonders for my finger joints and for the tendonitis in my heel - apply 1-2 times daily and rub in well. The heel took a long time, but I realized today that I no longer limp when I get out of bed in the mornings, and my finger joints are not longer painful when lightly squeezed (except one stubborn one). They also no longer burn so terribly when they thaw out after being chilled. It takes time, but I am amazed.

Right now I have only one waterer in the run, the heated dog bowl. I unplug and dump it every night at lockup, and plug it in and fill it every morning. I carry out a gallon (milk) jug, and that's all I have to worry about for the day. I have the bowl up on a cinder block, so it stays pretty clean.

When I don't have to worry about water freezing, I have 3 waterers out there. Might make it just two next spring, since one seems to be enough now.

Dreamz, congratulations on your weight loss! It's not easy to do.
Both my bowls are up on a cinder block as well on each side of teh run but they freaking manage to get it dirty in a minute.

Does it smells like the plant? The smell of marihuana makes me very ill in the gut. I have no clue as to why. 2 yrs ago, when looking for a house, one of the hourses had plants in the yard and they used to smoke in the house and I was so sick that I had to leave the realtor by herself. Been like this all my life. They even used me in teh Army as a drug tester, lol

I am asking becasue it might help me with my hand and knee discomfort.

All the old snow cleared away, ready for the thaw!
Was able to use the thrower on the back patio, it juuussst fits thru the gate.
Tho there is still some packed snow and ice back there, at least the 8+" of snow moved.

Everything is ok out on this side. Colder becasue I am close to Lake Michigan but cannot complain much. Blanch is almost featherless and baby mama is finally showing a little tail. Sophia looks like she is done molting. I mess with her because I tell her that she forgot to grow feathers on her neck (she is a naked neck chick) I am thinking of changing their feeder. They seem to have trouble getting out of it and not filling up as it should be. Not sure at what to get. I might just brouse Amazon and see what they have.
I am also thinking of taking a week and go home. But just the thought of all that is happening, I would be very upset to get stranded in the airport or problems in the plane. Or like in 2019, that I almost had to stay longer that I wanted and by fighting ended up in Ft Lauderdale all night to get back to Detroit and drive home. They should make a bridge there, lol I prefer to drive everywhere. That way I know that I am the one that decides when to come back.

Well, will make a line to teh kitchen and then to bed. Love you all!
