My mother used to separate the small pig intestine and clean it. She would lay it on a 1" x 10" board and using a flat wooden scraper would clean every thing gooey out of it. All the goop would be scraped out leaving the tough outer layer. We used it for stuffed sausage and brats. I still prefer that method or sheep casing which is usually smaller and tougher, it won't break as easily while we stuff it.Maybe, lol In PR they take the instestines and empty them. Have no clue how they get cleaned but once they are cleaned, they fill it with some cooked rice and blood. Then fry them. They are very good. Lard is still used in PR for frying as well. I do not think I will eaat that combination but I bet I can find something from teh insides of a pig that I will eat,lol
I have a pair of crows nesting here. I'm guessing that the female is on the nest. Only one crow has been coming around lately. But he comes in several times a day to get suet, BOSS, and peanuts. No ravens down here, only crows.
