Well back at the old house in the city, I had cable TV in the coop.
Actually, the coop was in the garage and I had a TV in my shop. I could work in the shop all weekend and watch football. Chickens didn't seem to notice.

Yesterday when I went out, I heard a commotion in the coop. Went to check and found Opal standing over something. Couldn't figure it out. Silver thing shaped like some kind of handle. Went to pick it up and screamed like a girl. It was soft and warm. It was a dead snake!! Not sure if it was a garter snake, but everyone is still kicking this morning. I'm not scared of snakes. Played with them when I was a kid. But a shock when I thought it was a metal handle...... It was a good size.
It's going to be a hot week. And muggy. Stay safe friends!

12 little Rouen ducklings are on their way to their new home. Dreamz is on her way back.
We had to resort to some trickery to round up the little ones. Took a couple of tries but I said no more after the second try. Just too hot to chase them and stress them. So I have 4 left that are placating the mother ducks. I can live with that.

If we were more ambitious, we'd have duckies too. As it is, no way! Another coop, fencing, wading pool, and the Canada geese at our pond and yard would make their lives hell.
This summer we only have two families of those geese, totaling nineteen goslings. Only!

Got the garden watered (so it will rain), stuff picked up, put away, washed, dried, packed. Gotta load the car and... not sure what else.

A neighbor is taking care of the chickens while we're gone. I had a long sit in the run this afternoon, chatting with them. I have never left them before, so this is nerve wracking for me. I'm sure the neighbor will do fine, and I'm a call/text away if she needs help. There are two sources of chicken help on either side of her too.

I would NOT be going except that it's for a wedding. The beans are starting to come on, I have a tomato starting to turn, and it's been so dry that I've watered 2-3x a week. I told DH if it weren't Julie getting married, he'd be going alone. I just wish she still lived in Sparta, not Maine.

We'll be back next Monday.

Yes, I watched TV and took a nap on his bed as he could talk for hours on end. Good thing I could fall asleep fast especially after drinking a few beers with two straws.

Just kidding. Had to use his bathroom because he would not let me go in the woods. Army gal goes anywhere without hesitation. If there is a need, she will fix it,lol
RaZ, the house was normal to me. Like I said, I care less how people do their house keeping. I was visiting you and that was that mattered. I had lots and big and beautiful. I have had nothing but a truck with my underwear and a computer and slept there for months. Took showers at a gym. So I am as down to earth as I can possibly be. They only thing that will make my stomach turn and throw up is the smell of Marijuana. The rest, I do not care. People is what matters!

Well, that was a very nice drive through the back r. Nice to see Lake I forgot but not Michigan. I love nature drives.

Then, I thought I had my ducks on a row, but no, 12 were in my truck and after the first hour back, it stinked, lol Stopped at a gas station for the bathroom and it smelled so good in there that I wanted to stay and not return to my truck,lol

They are afraid of me for now. I guess until they learn my voice and the hand that feeds them. For now they are inside with everyone. They did dumped themselves in a plastic bowl because the kiddy pool is broken. Will get one tomorrow at the dollar store on my way back from Muskegon. It will be interesting to get them up the coop ramp. I made them a bed inside a crate and put new woodships in. Right now they are in a corner checking everything out. So cute how they all walk together in unison. I felt like singing Army cadences songs,lol

@Sally PB Here are the pictures of the Plantain lasagna I made last week. Lots of work but it was worth it!
