Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well, not perfect but it is going. Three walls up. Kind of windy so pinned with studs and hub even added the ladder, lol

Quackies did not used their pool. But they sure know how to get from the back into the chicken run all by themselves. I just put them in the back with lotsa water and 2 bowls with kalmback dual feed. I only had chicken yesterday and gave them some but the chickens did not want to share, lol they ate it all. 20220720_161043.jpg 20220720_161100.jpg
Just a 16 x 25 for them right under some shade of some oak and pine. The front will not have natural shade. Still a lot to figure out, but they look content. They still miss momma!

Yesterday when I went out, I heard a commotion in the coop. Went to check and found Opal standing over something. Couldn't figure it out. Silver thing shaped like some kind of handle. Went to pick it up and screamed like a girl. It was soft and warm. It was a dead snake!! Not sure if it was a garter snake, but everyone is still kicking this morning. I'm not scared of snakes. Played with them when I was a kid. But a shock when I thought it was a metal handle...... It was a good size.
It's going to be a hot week. And muggy. Stay safe friends!
Gahhh that’s not fun, especially when it’s a surprise. Glad it wasn’t alive! Ironically my husband had a similar experience weeding! He picked up a huge weed and something fuzzy jumped out of his hands in a scurry. We assume a mouse likely?

I can’t believe how fast the chicks grow! Will be three months old this week and definitely all seem to be hens! I am starting to tell a couple apart too lol! One had a darker comb, pretty much black vs red. And two others have unique eyes. The other 7 I have no idea whose who lol! Hopefully in a couple months time!

While at FFH yesterday, they had black australops. Told hub, hey I do not have any black hen! He just asked for the bathroom and left me,lol. No, didn't buy ant chickens. I am safe in those places. They also had barred rocks. I always do look at them but never buy any. Told you I am not good at math, :lau

I really want a rooster so if you ever see a black australorp roo let me know! Will be making the drive!

LOL I keep hearing about chicken math!

Verdict is still out on these guys as they aren’t as friendly as I imagined yet but it’s still early!

I have to get some chicken fencing and a hot wire so I can let them free range in a larger space some days . So far my seeing what predators are on our property since we have only been living here 6 months
