Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Sally, that time will go by like lightning. Enjoy every minute of it and don't worry.

Dreamz, you are definitely not going to want to have those ducks in your chicken coop for very long they make a huge mess. They need to have water close by their food as they dunk the dry food in the water to be able to swallow it. That also makes a huge mess.

@1muttsffan Yes, they are having thier own run and housing constructed. Just need to put the 4 walls up and figure a roof, lol

I know how it can be in closed areas. Chickens are scared of them. They woul not go up to the coop, so I was able to get them were the Eyndottes were.

got them out this mo. So far so good. Just need to get ready for appointment and get them a new kiddie pool and more feed. So far, they are drinking out of the chicken eater and it is funny to watch over the camera. One goes, 11 follow and chicken move out of their way once they see them all doing stuff in unison, lol gotta go now! The saga continues!

Hey everyone!! It’s been a while since I’ve been on this thread but hi again! We are planning on moving soon and all the farm animals are coming obviously. We have 35 animals right now. We are only moving about 30-45 mins away. Any tips on transporting our 15 chickens and 12 ducks? I have a horse trailer I will probably use. I planned on putting the heavier breeds of ducks in some crates so they don’t hurt themselves but I only have two dog crates. I only have two bonded Pekins and only one really heavy Rouen as my heavy breeds. Should I put them in the crates in the trailer or no? Another thing is that I have all my ducks and chickens in the same coop snd run very temporarily. There is a nice big chicken coop in the new property. *fistpump* Should I trailer all the flock together?

It's easiest to load the birds in dog crates, it's a short trip. Congrats on your new digs!
Mary
How many do you think can go in a crate at a time? I don’t have the dimensions but I have a picture of one of my drakes in there with an injured leg.

Keep in mind where you put the kiddie pool, somewhere it's easy to dump it and won't soak the whole run.
Do you know they need a waterer deep enough to rinse their nostrils?
Got them a duck waterer in FFH this morning. 2 walls up, yeah! They are sitting under the trailer, lol

Well, one wall and half the other. Still trying to figure out the diagonal measurements from 8ft to 6ft among 8 studs. Darn math!
